View Full Version : Spec I Clutch

Well after only a bout 10,000 miles my spec 1 clutch is slipping.
Why? Well I have had the same clutch in my stang for over 7 years and still going strong so I cant say its driving style...
So I'm thinking..Yes the clutch is a heck of allot stiffer then factory...But the SPEC I clutch uses a standard type disc... Soooo perhaps its the disk that just isnt worth its weight.

I would guess that the holding force of the Stage I pressure plate isn't able to hold your stage 1 clutch disk with your engine's performance level due to it's friction coefficient.

I have the Spec 3 and Spec 1 in each of my annys. The Spec 3 is much funner and quicker...though it is heavy for stop and go traffic.

I have centerforce df in my 35th, probably has 20 miles on it if that, i like it, engagement feels great compared to my SVT Focus, I just wish that the SC had the 6 speed like the focus, that would be cool. Maybe you didn't break it in properly? I've heard that is VERY easy to mess up the spec clutches when breaking them in, and if you mess it up, you'll know it at around 10,000 miles, heard from a few places, call spec up and see what they say.

Unfortunately I bought the car with the clutch installed about 1500 miles ibefore that.
