The fuel pump on my 98 Chevy 2500 5.7L PU died on me this weekend.....

Today, we installed a new pump and relay, but the pump isn't getting power.....

We traced the wiring to an oil pressure / fuel pump switch located on the back of the motor under the distributor.....

When we jumped the wires at this switch we get power to the pump.....

Went to AZ and got a new switch, installed it, but still no power to the pump......:mad::mad:

Anybody know if we are over looking something, or could we have gotten a bad switch (Duralast) from AZ......

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Chevy. I assume the switch prevents the pump from running when the engine is off. What triggers the switch? Oil pressure? Rotating dist.? Sounds like whatever should trigger the switch isn't.

It's a pressure switch that screws into the back of the block.....

We are assuming that it senses some type of oil pressure and turns the fuel pump on or off to prevent catastophic engine failure.....

Did you check all your relays under the hood? Also the ground for the fuel pump? and check your ignition switch sounds like your problem might have been somthing else to begin with.
