MAF upgrade question

If I upgrade from 30# to 36# injectors and from a 55mm MAF to the C&L 76mm or the Pro-M 75mm, do I still need a chip or dyno tuning? With the C&L MAF, are the generic curves good enough, or is the custom-calibrated Pro-M a lot better?
Thanks.

alot of ppl when going to 36# injectors just find a MAF from a 94-95 SC.

but if u really want a bigger MAF then just go with a C&L unit. they look great, they're cheap and the calibration from the sample will be plenty since 30-36 is not a big jump.

Apparently the 94 MAF won't work with the earlier EEC.

About the C&L MAF, does it need to be tuned/chipped, or will it work well out of the box? Are the generic curves good enough?

Who said that? The electronics are pretty much the same for all the years.

You are better off getting a C&L to start with anyway. Going from 30 lb injectors to 36 with the right sample tube without getting a chip and a tune is ok as the EEC can adapt enough to cover the difference. Is this an ideal solution? no, but it'll work.

You can use the 94/95 MAF's in the older cars if you wanted. The car can adapt to it and the MAF information in the EEC is very close to each other except at the top end.. which will net you about a 5cfm increase over the older MAF or in other words about another 130kg/h before you peg the meter so to speak.

A 76mm C&L is capable of flowing over 2000 kg/h compared to the 1100 or so the stock one will do.

As far as adapting to 36# injectors, you'll probably be rich at idle, might occasionally have hot start issues, cruise the EEC should be able to adapt to the change so mileage should stay about the same there, and at WOT you may go a bit lean but nothing to worry about because our cars are rich at WOT anyway.
