Force enjoys ESPY experience: Since the beginning of the 2008 NHRA POWERade season, Funny Car sensation and 2007 Auto Club Road to the Future Award winner Ashley Force has been wowing crowds at tracks across the country.


With three final-round appearances and a historic first victory over her legendary father, 14-time world champion John Force, at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals this season, Force has dominated the fans' and media’s attention as she continues to develop as a driver and sports personality. The latest sign that Force’s star is continuing to rise was her first nomination for an ESPY, the annual sports and entertainment award presented by ESPN.

Force was nominated in the Hummer Like No Other category along with MLB player Manny Ramirez, NHL superstar Sydney Crosby, and eventual winner former NFL player George Martin. As a nominee, Force was invited to attend the awards show July 16 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The usually shy nitro Funny Car driver used the experience to enjoy some high-level people-watching and mingling.

“It was really an honor to be nominated for an ESPY. I wish I would have won, but just the experience was great. Danny [fiancé Danny Hood] and I spent the whole night mingling with the biggest stars in all of sports,” said Force. “I have to be honest, I’m not a huge sports fan, so Danny recognized a lot more people than me. I love to people-watch, and the ESPYs was the perfect place to do that. I saw all sorts of players and celebrities. It was a great night.”
