Did you guys get it running?

I also hope someone gave Bruce a torque wrench, taught him how to use it, and the actual specs for everything... I heard his own torque settings can be a little aggresive ;).

Wow...now that is diversity. Every once in a while we have a throw down like that here. Usually not that many people, but none the less, there was a throw down.

Looks like a great turnout!!
Teamwork at it's best.

Ed,
This EGR tube has the two nipples for the DPFE. The one I got off you a couple years ago had one nipple and I ended up selling it because I needed the two nipple type.
What year engine is this tube for?
Can you get a new one still?

You cut me deep Josh. Keep in mind every time I've stopped at Carstar, YOU, Andrew and Dale are always on break!!:p

When I left last night the water pump timing cover etc were on and they were just bolting the heads on. Not sure how late they worked but I think today they would be putting it in.

Engine is back in the car and mated up to the trans, that operation was being difficult. Everything underneath is hooked up. We still need to get the accessories bolted up to the front of the engine, install the SC, and other minor crap. Bruce, Alan, and I are hoping to get it going tonight.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to lend a hand, the help was very much appreciated. Great to see some of the guys who aren't able to make it out to the meets on a regular basis. :)

Paul, that is the 94 - 95 SC EGR tube. They are no longer available from Ford. You would have to track down a used one, or search the U.S. obsolete sources for it. P.n. was F4SZ 9D477 K. Andrew's was cracked, luckily I had the one around that came off my car.

Got home at 8:00 last night, shower & supper took it past 9:00 and at that point the teenagers were on the computer (need I say anymore ). Ed probably got home what midnight? Ed drove Dave back to London for me.

The help I got this weekend was awesome, everybody helped out tremendously especially Dave and Bruce and of course having and aircraft quality assurance manager is a hugh plus. :D And of course I have to thank Ed for the space to do the work and for driving Dave home, yes I know I owe you guys HUGE. :D

Mike thanks for the pics.

Right around midnight when I pulled in at home. We hit a torrential downpour on the way down, around Cambridge I guess. Could hardly see a thing, so I don't really know where it was.

finally got my 12 hours of sleep :p .....was well super pooped... thanks to all ..I had a great time ....from the moment Dean picked me up..watching cars pull over on the 401 for Deans cop looking car ...and the look on there faces as we passed  and my first ride in a 95 5speed back home ...I was glad not to be driving ...and that's hard for me to say ...but that was unbelievable rain ...there were times all you could see were wiper blades on the wind shield...Eds hands never moved from 9 and 3 on the wheel ...tone of his voice never changed ...so I felt very safe .... I was treated like royalty all weekend ...I was a little disappointed we didn't get it finished...but it was a lot more ....than just pulling a motor and dropping another one in ...but I was glad to learn.... most of the differences between 1 generation sc motors and second generation ...timing cover to hold crank sensor ...balancer ...oil pickup tube ..to use the windage tray ...and after spending an hour cleaning the old rockers and fulcrums and push rods ...and not liking the shape of some of them ...deciding to rape a few from the the other motor ...finding a redesigned larger and longer13mm bolt and much beefier fulcrum ..our aircraft quality assurance manager....and I ..decided that I had some more cleaning to do ..after practicing on the old set ...it took me less time to clean these one up ...found the the egr tube was cracked had to change that ...it did not come off easy ...and ed had a spare ...torque wrench we had broke ... Al doesn't know his own strength ....:)....out of time have to go to work now ...how did things go last night ....dave

Update ... IT'S ALIVE !!

We were able to call Andrew at around 11 pm last night with the good news. Alan and Bruce came up after work, and several hours of final assembly and fiddling got everything hooked up and ready to go.

Car started up almost immeadiately, oil pressure came up, smooth idle, with around 18 inches of vacuum.

A big thanks to everyone who lent a hand over the course of the last few days ...

Of course it all took a bit longer to come together than planned, but that is usually the case with big projects like this. Andrew Wang is extremely grateful for everyone's help, and he knows that he owes us "big time". :D

Like Ed said, thanks to all the guys that came out to lend a hand. Great job. BBQ is being planned. I'd also like to thank the pizza place in Caledon (good pizza) but 2 days in a row (lunch & dinner)

Ed, I know it was late but did anyone manage to take the car for a boot?

It was past midnight by the time we were getting things finished up, so no, we did not take it out for a test spin. We can do that tonight, and if you can, bring someone down with you. That way if the car is good to go (which it should be), you can get it the heck out of my sight!! :p

Only thing that we couldn't find during reassembly were the plastic cowl panel screws, so I'm trying to come up with some replacements for those today.

I won't know until after lunch, if I can get tonight off work or not. So call me later in the afternoon as we talked about last night.

thx,
Ed N.

As you can see we put in some long hours on this one. Should be a really strong runner with all the expertise we pulled in for the job. Dave has great knowledge of SC engine compartments. Bruce didn't seem to mind too much that it was really dirty under the car. Must of be from all the sawdust used to clean up spills after I demonstrated how to spill correctly. Who knew that the oil and coolant would fall out if the engine was turned upside down. We had enough hardware left over to build another engine. I can't imagine why Ed couldn't find the cowl screws:confused: I guess we should have spent more time with the parts bags and the marker.
Altogether it was a great experience, learned a lot, and had great laughs at the expense of the Chinese guy and the blue satin scrunchie guy:D
Thanks for the good time guys.

...Great work by a great team!

I wish I could have joined in the fun, but I changed jobs recently and my new employer has me down in Hammond, IN lately. ...Don't bother looking it up. ...This place makes the north end of Hamilton look like Beverly Hills!

I'm glad for Andrew that he's got his car back up and running, and probably better than ever before.

Kudos to the whole crew who helped out. There are some things about owning an SC that I miss, and people and events like this are chief on the list.

Found them tonight when I went to back the car out of the shop, thanks Dean. Guess that we were too tired last night to notice them sitting there.

Andrew pulled out of my driveway around 10 pm tonight, after we took it for a 5 km or so test drive. Everything is good I hope, I haven't got a phone call yet ... though I did tell him to call CAA, not me, if it crapped out on the way back to Barrie. :D

Absolutely agree Sean, meets are on thing but working/hanging out at a project is the best part...a lot of fun. It's too bad that peoples schedules and location make it difficult to help out at more projects.

Ryan, it was a used 89 engine from a friend of Bruce, apparently he bought the car with ~170,000 km, drove it home, and put a 460 in it. We just had the heads redone, fresh gaskets, and swapped over all of Andrew's late style external pieces. Runs like a champ so far.

LOL, we had 4 days of summer this year. :D

Well I'm still saving up cash to do a rebuild on the trany and motor and add a few goodies along the way. All of my SC's not on the road or being driven. I blew up the motor my SC in Oct and haven't worked on Kendra's SC since early may. Kendra's car stll runs strong, but we are looking into selling that for a boat.

Well I married the right kind of women, she likes to fish and wants the boat as much if not more than I do. We have bought 3 houses since we been together, we have all need in that reguard. This house doesn't anything but a finished basement(which is in progress):D

Sorry, got into my usual routines again. Update, I've got coolant leaking from below the the water pump area and a vac leak somewhere. Vac at idle is like 5-7 (whatever the units are measured in :D), boost, I'm not really hammering the boost but I haven't seen it go over the 5 lb mark. So right now I've parked the car until the guys from the garage return from shutdown.
