What would cause thecompressor the cycle approx 4 sec then go off for about 15 secs then back on again?? I am not real familar with A/C ussues.
Thanks

That issue is a classic case of the ac system being low on freon, your low pressure switch on the drier is causing that, its working as it was design too, its doing this to save you a compressor burning up. Put freon and it should be fine.

Thanks millions, added to it and now it does stay on longer. What is the normal time that teh compressor should stay on until it cycles?

if full a contuis cycle.if the ac runs for a while and compresser clutches stop for a second or two and comes back on,you are fine.

A cycling compressor can also be caused bt a blocked orfice tube causing the evap and accumulator to starve for refrigerant. On late model systems an overcharge can cause the same problem. An accurate diagnosis can be made with a set (high and low pressure) gages.
