Well I got a chance to drive a new Mustang 4.0 v6 with a 5 speed. Good power and very smooth shifting with short throw shifter right from the factory. Not as comfortable as a Supercoupe but not bad either. Read about one 4.0 six with a turbo going low 11s. Hear we go again!! Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it.:D

I had one in auto for a few weeks. Turds. I guess a few more ponys from the 5 speed could be better, but not better enough. Specially when the v8 is just a few grand more.

I dont know what you drove? the 4.0 has as much power as a stock in a lighter car with a better trans and gearing. Hey I loved my SC but I dont see ford building a new one or anything close for that matter. But to each his own.

Tim I did my first roadtrip in my S197 3V Mustang this past weekend. Great power, and fuel mileage on the car. But it was not that comfortable as far as seating goes. It was not as comfortable as my F250, but a little better than my 95 LX Bird.

I have a 05 V3 5speed Mustang, feels like it has less torque than stock
my 90 SC Bird. It a lot easier to have the tire go up in smoke on the
stock SC Bird with every type bolt-on, than the stang. The Stang feels
to me to need a higher gears in the rear. Havent looked yet to see
what the rearend gear ratio is.

I got to drive a 08 GT500 for a few minutes this past saturday. I think
it may be the fastest bone stock production ford car that I have
ridden in or drove. I was supprise that the interror on the Shelby
was the same as are 3 valve GT Mustang.

Tim,, Its nice that they made a V-6 model for old codgers to drive. :)

I drove an 07 auto mustang V3. It may be faster than a stock SC, but a stock SC is not fast, IMHO. Shoot, a new accord is faster than a stock SC, so that's not really saying much.

None2slow, hands on info for you.

I think you may have mis-read my post.
I was compairing my 90 SCBird to my 2005 GT Stang
in my above post on how both felt when driving both.
Et/MPH wise. I would guess that they are very close in
the 1/4 mile ETs, and MPH.

Below is my hands on compairison to a 2005 V-6 stang.
I have all ready ran & beat a stock 05 V-6 stang.
With my 90 SCBird, stock long block, with bolt-ons.
Main bolt-on mod, was a MPIII 10% OD. RWHP
for my bird was 273.7. Nitto DR tires.

The stock ratio is 3.31, the Mod motor responds well to 4.10s

Roadhawg,
I think my 05 stang ,for highway use, I would like to have a higher
rear gear ratio, than the stock reargear or 4:10 rear gear.

I have new 4:10 gear for my SC in a pumpkin. But
have never installed. I am running stock rear gear
in my SC with AOD. I suppose that my 4:10 gear
would bolt in a 05 GT Stang rear housing.

Randy

I have been tring to post a picture for Tim. But when I
put my curser on the SCCoA attachment button it will
not respond.

Yeah, the new 4.0L V6 is much like the old notch back GT's. 16 inch rims, 210HP vs 225HP, both run mid 15's stock :)

Also, they are dynoing as high as 180's at the rear wheel stock. With Vortech's at 12 psi ish they are putting out right around 280RWHP. Seems like the procharged V6's are getting over 300 RWHP. And of course the Power House Turbo cars at just 8 psi non IC's are enough to bust into the high 13's. That's GT performance for less than the cost of the GT package (+ lower insurance)

I guess Iam just wierd. When the time comes Ill get a v6 five speed. Knowing myself I will not leave it stock. I saw a video of a turbo late model v6 mustang running 11.10. That would be fast enough for me. Its fun beating up on v8 cars with a 6, you guys already know that.:D
