After all the things I put this guy through personally I feel it is time for some recognition. No, I'm not talking about XR7 Dave (this time) but a member that has been laying low for a bit. fast Ed
fast Ed for years has been caring for the Canadian crew. What really set him apart from the crowd was when I was trying to source a coolant by-pass hose. Ed sourced some hoses and brought them home to compare them to his SC before shipping out!
Thanks Ed!

I would agree that EDs a great guy. One of the few that I have
met thats honest, his word is good as gold. Someone thats
far and few on the SCCoA.

I agree,
When I was new to the club last year he helped me out a great deal and I probably would not be driving my car and it wouldn't be were it is now without his help.

Damn, thats pretty harsh. I would like to think that there are more honest guys than crooks......
And yes, Ed's the man.:)

Tom is right... Ed is one of the most honest and dedicated members we have in this club.
He has saved us hundreds of dollars in parts discounts, provided alternative solutions for problems we have encountered through the years, and works tirelessly to find answers for anyone who asks. He is an invaluable resource to everyone, and all too often goes un-rewarded for his efforts. If it wasn't for Ed, the Ontario chapter would be a mere shadow of what it is today.
INHO, he should be the next recipient of the Adam Mullen award (if that still exists).

Ed is the man. He has helped me out from day one with getting parts when I began my rebuild project. Yesterday, I emailed him during his work hours and he got right back to me with the info. I agree that Ed deserves much recognition for his help and efforts with the SC community.

If you really feel this way, why do you hang around---I don't associate with folks I think are dishonest---while there may be a couple bad apples---(although I can't think of any)--the number of just plain super folk on here is large, not picking a fight or anything, I just don't understand that comment............Dan

Thanks guys, I try to help when I can!!
Tom, I assume this means the hose made it out to you OK, and that it was correct.
John Ludorf's friend in Edmonton is still interested in my SC apparently, so my time here as a fully active member may be limited.

I just feel it's time to move on. Had the car for 10 years now, it's been pretty good to me. But I believe that it is getting to the age and mileage now where it is going to potentially need a lot of effort put in to the car, to continue doing what I do with it ... and I don't know that I'm really prepared to do that.
I've also been wanting to participate in more open-track events, and this just isn't the car for job, unless I resort to very extensive mods, which would IMO ruin the flavour and street characteristics of it. Supercharged cars with out liquid ICs quickly heat up on the warmer summer days, and because of the size and weight of the vehicle, lots of open-track days would equal lots of $$ spent on fuel, brakes, and tires. If the car does sell, I will be looking for something smaller to use as a track car.
Having said all that, it is still the nicest car overall that I have owned, and will be a bit sad to part with it.
cheers

Ed is a stand up guy. At last years Shootout, he let me stand by him while we were....um...doing nothing but standing in the parking lot. Oh, he also gave me a $100 to...um...stand by him.
At this years Shootout, I hope he gives me $200.

You know you don't have to own the car to stick around. Might be nice to just chat with a friend occassionally and see what you're up to. Besides, I for one would hate to lose that knowledge base!

Ed sure came through for me. I had bought a brand new driver's side windshield cowl for my car off Ed, but at the time there where no new pax sides ones. Later on Ed actually found one for me brand new so I ordered it up :D.
Hope you stick around even if you do give up the SC, which you shouldn't... just get another car for the track ;).

I'm quite sure that I would not be gone completely, you guys can't get rid of me that easily. :p
I'd like to think that I've made too many friends here to simply disappear from the community altogether. And Duane, I'm pretty sure that you were giving me money to stand beside you, to improve your tarnished respectability.
Anyway, enough talk, we'll see if the car sells or not, and move forward from there.
cheers

Tom, you're actually closer than you think on that ... I've been researching the mid-90s Mazda MX-3 with the 1.8 V6. The 2.5L from the Probe and 626 is pretty much a bolt-in, so you get 170ish HP in a 2,600 lb. car. There is also a Japan market version of the 2.5 with 200 HP. Suspension and brakes are shared with the 91-96 Escort and Mazda 323, I know it's a good platform.
Fraser, as much as I'd love to, having three vehicles just won't work. Next spring I will be out of the house in Caledon I'm looking after, and I doubt that I will be moving somewhere that has room for 3 cars, plus the work truck. And I want to hang on to my 68 Cougar for now.
cheers

Ed,
Take a look at bringing a MazdaSpeed Miata from the States. You can steal them for $13,000 - $15,000
