Will the 70MM MAF from a 94-95 SC work with a 89-93 SC? This would be the complete MAF with the sensing unit. Or would there be a need to reprogram the engine control module?

It should be a plug and play...

It will work but its not the best match, your MPG will suffer. I got a reman (OEM) for my cars & 1 went from 23 mpg to 27 on the highway. If you go to tccoa they have a page that explains the MAF well.

Its a wasted upgrade if that is the reason your doing the swap. The 70mm unit only flows 50cfm more than the older 55mm. Stock settings in the older computer won't even allow you to use that extra 50cfm anyway.

So by that rationale would it also be true that an aftermarket C&L MAF would also show no real improvement? Or is the lack of improvement with the newer style MAF due to the differences in electronics, as the C&L would reuse the stock electronics?

The C&L will flow more because it is a better design, not just bigger. If the MAF is your only upgrade, you won't see much improvement with it. A smaller blower pulley would give you more gain. If you plan on doing more to it later though, go with the MAF.

Also, C&L told me that the 94/95 electronics are incompatible with the EEC-IV computers in the 89-93, Probably because they are OBD-II.

94-95 are still OBD1---96-97 OBD2 started I do believe
I used the same connector on my car which is an 89 with my friend's 94 and found out his CEL problem!!!
