What would cause this?

Yesterday I had my car on a rack for an oil change and after removing the old filter I noticed that the lip around the oil filter adapter was dented front and back causing the new filter not to seal, so when the engine is started there is an oil leak from where it is dented. The old filter didn't look dented so I'm wondering what could have caused this. I'm looking for a non dented adapter if anyone can help. Also if it were say caused by the oil filter hitting the k member would I need to change the motor mounts before trying to repair the adapter?

Could be over tightening of the filter, or the filter hitting the K member. How old are you motor mounts?

Not sure, I've owned this SC all of 3 days but if I had to guess I'd say they're vintage too....is there an easy way to do the motor mounts without pulling the intercooler and a/c compressor?

Motor and tranny mounts might be worn out maybe causing the filter to ride on something it's not suppose too would be my guess.
