Cleaning/polishing

I have some polishing compound stuck in some crevices that I would like to get out. Namely where the magnum powers logo is on the inlet plenum. I would go for soap but the ph of it won't fare well with the bare aluminum. This isn't mothers stuff either, its the real deal bench buffer polish. Anyone have some ideas?

How about using toothpicks. I've done that a few times. They're soft pine, and can be easily sharpened and shaped to get into all sorts of places. Is the compound water or oil based? If water-based just use toothpicks and water. If oil-based try mineral spirits as a solvent. That's my $0.02.

Oilbase. I had it sandblasted so there are pits it's sticking in. Will the mineral spirits soften it enough to wash off?
