adjusted idle bypass screw..now i had trouble restarting

i adjusted the idle bypass screw like wayne said...i drove to the beerstore(2 Minutes away)the check engine light came on,on the way...got my case of budweiser..tried to restart the car,,it turned over but would jerk and alot of smoke was coming out of the exhaust..it could be unrelated to the bypass screw..but i just spent alot of money on the car and it's still not right..any suggestions??
