Just a suggestion...Let's do a Big Meet for our Annual Combined meet, like the one you suggested.
Perhaps the March deal can be a cruise/dinner deal.
We should check to see when Famoso's season opens.
I like your schedule for the get togethers. Perhaps we can have the "Awards Banquet" Saturday afternoon.

I'm game, I think the Mrs. will be between horse shows. Let's invite any and all SCer's to the meet.

Good idea Kurt!

I'd expect Bakersfield weather in March to be pretty nice. If we're going to have some joint activities (no, don't light that up!) in Bakersfield, my vote would be for spring or/and fall.

I take offense to having to run in an all girls race. I think Nikkie showed that you do not have to be a boy to race the boy's.

I did not have my car in Bakersfield but it will be at the next meet and I do not care who I line up against (OK not the Silver Bullet or John) but everybody else is fine by me.

So like the old saying goes "lead, follow or get out of the way" and I do not like to follow.

Sue

P.S.-Three days is to long for a meet. A weekend is a better idea. The drive is over 6 hours for us.

March may be tough for me. My wedding anniversary is in march. You never know, since my wife & I met at Sacramento Raceway.(her driving a '70 dodge challenger r/t, me driving a '67 buick GS with a 455). Maybe I could talk her into a drag racing weekend for our anniv. We will just have to see.

A thought just dawned on me. Next years National Meet will be here in the west coast.

So if we were planning on getting a good meet going as a California club again, we could all just set up together at the National meet and represent there. If we get enough cars there and identify ourselves as the California chapter, we can really get our names up there.

Derek, is there a better day for you?
I think that the object was to schedule something soon so that we can keep the momentum going between the clubs.

Kurt, I thought we had a really nice turn-out for the last meet and I was not at all disappointed with the numbers. I have a suspicion that our next Annual meet will have even greater numbers. How does the rest of your group feel about having the next combined Annual meet in Carlsbad? That is one long haul for you guys. No one would agrue about the improvement over Famoso, however, that is far for most of your folks and might be a deterent to getting the large numbers that you are looking to get.

We would have to ask the women racers if they want their own gender-specific bracket. I sense that they do not want to be separated. With Sue and Wendy coming out soon, we will all need to go faster next year to keep up with them.

That is cool with me. I was just going with your idea to do something in San Diego.
Bakersfield in a cooler month will be great.

I like Bakersfield: plenty of room, run by nice folks, almost centrally located...

Carlsbad is closer for SoCal, but quite a haul for the rest of CA.

If we host a meet there, our NorCal friends may never want to see us again. Carlsbad's site improvement budget appears to be on the meager side.

I called Famoso [(661) 399-2210]
today to get some further info on their 2003 schedule.
According to Famoso (Elena) the 2003 schedule will not be published until late December.
I then called Blake Bowser (Famoso Scheduling whiz)to see if he can put us into the 2003 schedule for our chapters. He has been out of town at Pomona for the NHRA meet and was not available and his answer machine was filled-up. I will try again later this week.

I should find another SC by then, mines gone now. uninsured motorist making a u-turn in front of me. I had my eight year old josh with me. And luckily for the other driver he(my son) didn't have a scratch on him. Cause i would have pounded his face till the cops zapped me with the Tazer gun. Two broken ribs for me, but i still could have taken him. Anyway i'll be lookin for a 5speed now when my insurance pays me off. so i'll see you all there.

We know that Jimmy is the King and Hwycoper and Ron Randall are very fast as well, but we are getting ready down in the South.
Coast to Coast SC will be stronger next year..
Mike is baking-up some goodies for you with his Titanium SC...
Al is much stronger now (I plan to ask him to have some of the lead taken off his foot to make those "Smokey" take offs less of an occurrence...
An perhaps we might see some of the other guys start making some noise at Famoso.
Again....March is just a warm up for us as the Combined Meet will be a terrific "Brawl for it All".
