Yeh Im having trouble remembering that far back as well;) I noticed on the other thread, about age, that some young guys say, for example, Im 22 and will be 23 in a few months. At my age Im trying to figure out how to put that in reverse. Im 53 but really should be 52 in a few months.

Im not in need of viagra but dont have as sex as I used to.

my hair is grey my tesicals hang by my knees. I have a beer belly, I grew a second or third chin, hair is growing from places I never knew i had ,

I dont care for womens perfume but would follow one home if she smelled like steak and potatos if I go to a massage parlor I actually want a massage.

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?

if i was stranded on a island with Maryann id never fix the boat learn to make booze stir up some Spanish fly kill off the skipper Mr Howell and keep Gilligan someone needs to pick bananas.

Ginger would wash my socks and be pregnant Mrs Howell would be pregnant and be the maid , and Mary Ann would be pregnant and be my woman . and a few monkeys also would be pregnant lol I'm never satisfied lol

I think there are a lot of us "OLD FARTS" because the cars are comfartable, big and bulky, like we were used to, and most of us have enuff expendable income to spend all the money they can demand.

Not sure about the old farts group but I am Twenty-Twenty-Eight ;) (48). When people ask where I grew up, my wife responds, "I'll let you know where we are if he ever grows up".

Just bought my first SC 6 months ago, been a 4X4 guy for over 30 years. I have a 1957 Willy's Panel 4X4 that will eventually be restored and fully Electric (2 motors), I also have a 1990 Jeep YJ which is getting a complete makeover from frame up because I hate the way Jeep ruined the new versions.

My SC is a Daily Driver and I love it even though SC's seem to need a lot of TLC to stay healthy.

I'm 21 years old, I bought my first thunderbird a 92 5.0 LX in October of 2006, I then hydro-locked the engine in it due to a cold air intake, so out came the 5.0 and in went a 351 windsor, while i was at it i also swapped in an m5r2, shortly there after i went to new jersey to buy 2 supercoupes, I then found another supercouper local from this site that recently purchased another supercoupe with the intentions of fixing the head gaskets. He lost interest and I acquired my 3rd. Then I met a man local to me that was an enthusiast but lost interest, I then bought 3 more from him. Now im getting rid of my old LX and hope to restore all but one of these cars back to original appearing condition. There's very little work I have to do on them so hopefully I can finish up soon and enjoy them more than I am working on them.

Being one of the old farts who responded to this survey, I was pleased to see that we are the second largest group of SC owners.

I bought mine in August of 1989 (original owner). Joined the SCCoA last year. I did not know that there were a bunch of guys, like me, who liked these cars.:o

I have only one thing to say to the younger SC owners: "Kepp paying your Social Security Taxes, as I plan on retiring in about 10 years!":p

I just turned 50 a few days ago and just prior to that, went to Vegas and picked up an absolutely wicked quick 90. I drove a 90 in college and law school and sold it in 2000. Loved it so much I wanted another but the stock thing just wasn't right. Like the seller said, you couldn't replicate it but if you could it would be well north of $20,000.00. I probably paid more for this car than anyone else has paid for a 100,000 plus miles model in a long time but DAMN its fun! Age is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter. This little sled will run up past 150 whether i'm driving it or not. The seller was about my age and working on child number 3.

I just turned 50 and I need to clarify something . . . 50 is the new 30!

I have been a 4X4 owner since I was 14, I bought my 1990 SC 2 years ago to drive while I rebuilt my YJ. YJ is still not rebuilt because I fell in love with the SC. Things break because I drive it hard, I fix em and drive it hard again because I feel like a kid when I get behind the wheel of the Bird!

maybe this is too old for this room, but my SC will be here after Al Gore's global warming here in the east floods me to the mountains....

Im 16 and I just bought my 89 SC in April of 2010. had to borrow some money from my Dad and a ton of his mechanical expertise... just spent 7 hours today messing with the fuel rail. at some point in time someone decided to pull on it hard enough to bend it :8 the thing wouldnt even hold an idle... so much was wrong with it to list here. although its all fixed now (mostly)

It's in the works but there are a few other things next in line before clear corners but that's on the way

My dad is the original owner of my 1994 AOD. It currently reads 46k on the odometer, and was just painted last year. This is my first car, and boy am i learning all the hype about working on these, although after a while you tend to get the hang of it. It currently has:

70mm bbk tb
3.5" CAI
73mm MAF
Complete Borla exhaust with high flow cats

Its awaiting the following (should have all parts by summer 2013)

5% SC Pulley
5% JS pulley
Double IC
Eibach 1.5" lowering springs
Thicker front and rear swaybars
#42 Injectors
255lph fuel pump

Im 18 years old and use this car as my every day car. And while gas is a killer ($4.30 for 93 octane ) its worth every penny for all the looks i get in this car.

I'm 45 and I got my first XR7 when I was 22. At the time I was driving a 62 Falcon, so it was quite an upgrade! At first I didn't even drive the car because I was so much an awe that I mostly just looked at it.

That was a long time ago!

I still have that XR7 today. It has over 250K miles on it now but still looks decent.

I am 20, got a 4.6 XR7 from my mom when I was 15 :). Always loved the car, then I went to look at a 90 super coupe 5 speed some one was selling because I loved my cougar so much. As soon as it melted through 3 gears during the test drive, I had to have it :D. I still own both and will for the rest of my life! I can't wait to meet everyone at the next shootout!

I bought a 60K mile rust bucket 8 years ago when I was 45, never drove it, had the engine rebuilt and will be putting that into a completely renovated SC this spring.

Along the way, itching to drive an MN-12 I bought an 96 LX V8, drove it a while sold it and bought two SC 5-speeds. I also have an SHO that can go out on a road race track and not break.

I love what Ford did with the Tbird SC and the Taurus SHO during the 89~95 period.

I'm 32 and bought my sc in 05 with 86k it was a garage kept one owner trade in and do to a major pricing error I bought it for 2900$ I believe it only has 105k on it today. I was always really picky about it never let anyone eat drink or smoke in it. Never has it been on a gravel road or driven in the snow. And it's always been garaged (with the exception of now it's sitting in front of my garage lol) I knew nothing about sc's and saw it at a car lot I drove past everyday. I stopped in to to look at it and the guy tossed me the keys and said "be careful that. Damn thing is fast!" I took it for a drive and fell in love e first time I floored it! Well I didn't have e 4900$ they wanted but I sure kept thinking about it! Couple weeks later I drove by and it said 2900$ on the windshield ! I stopped in and told the guy I'd take it and had to go find some money! I asked why the r educed price? He said "what are you talking about?" when I told him that he had dropped his price by 2000$ he about had a heart atack! Apparently the guy that washed all his cars had mixed up the price of the sc and a geo tracker sitting beside it when he put the prices on the windshields. The guy was honest and told me he'd honor that price not a penny less if I could come back with the money in 2hrs! I ended up going to the bank and having to use my crappy Honda and my crappy truck for collateral because the load value on the sc was like 1500$ lol my wife was pissed that I bought a car without talking to her (until she saw it lol)

im 37 and bought my first sc in 1998. my story is similar to yours.i was 23 and wanted a buick gn in the worst way. my dad talked me out of it and took me to the local ford dealer. i noticed a black 90 tbird with the sc embossed on the front and back bumper and wondered what it stood for? the salesman said it was a supercoupe it had a turbo! i asked him to pop the hood and what do i see the 3.8 top with what looks to be a blower ! much to my surprise. i took it for a test drive and was hooked . never knew what an sc was till that day. i no longer have that car as i bought my 93 with 33k in 2001. and now has 107k :) needless to say im glad my dad talked me out of getting a gn :)

I've had my 94 bird for goin on 2 years now it'll be 3 years in July 2013 (bought it when i was 21), and this is probably the car I've put the most time and money into.....My buddy took me for a ride in it, (when it was stock) and I ended up buying it from him a few months later! Now I've had 2, kept the first one and used the second one for parts :D

First 1989 XR7 I saw was red with ground effects. It was in front of the Autozone on Pat Booker Road in Universal City Tx. A Msgt from Randolph AFB was driving it. I was 18 and wished I could own one.At the time I was driving a beat up 67 Cougar XR7 with a 351c 2v that I had stuffed in it with a junkyard c4. Years later Im on my third mn12 and trying to do it right this time.

seems most of the young whipper snappers here weren't born yet when the SC's hit the street.

I'm an old fart- and us old farts will either out drive you into submission or

we will just flat out kick your ~~~ for disrespecting us.

Remember, without us 'old farts'- you may not have been in existence....

turned 60 this year...... So..... let's see.... (takes off shoes and socks....) Yea, still just enough fingers and toes to fit in the 40+ category.....

Wanted an 89 5 speed from the first time I saw the ad for it. But kids, med school, houses, business delayed that until 5 years ago....

bout it with 154K and now has 210K.... runs better now than then!!
