Radiator went in pretty good. No leaks, works good. Took it out for the second time today to run the old gas out of it and my cowl hood came unlatched and took out my windshield, the hood, dash, and put two creases in the roof. Back in the garage for a while.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum! That's quite some carnage!

Are you gonna try to repair the hood?

Is that one of those crappy Legendary hoods ?? I had one when I owned this car .. the hood here flew up a few times ( forgot pins ... ) .. its pretty much in the same condition and cracked in the same places as yours .. just sitting in my backyard. Not sure I trust these hoods anymore.

I'm not sure what brand the hood is. It's a total loss. Everything else is cosmetic. I checked SCP and they sell a cowl hood but it's $509 and it says $95-300 to ship:eek:. So the car is parked in the garage for a while. I'll probably have a glass company come out and get rid of the windshield, I'll clean the glass up, fix the dash, have a new windsheild put in, have the roof fixed and then figure out something for the hood. Hood pins will be on order with the next cowl hood.

How fast were you going ??

I think most I was going was 15 mph and then wind just caught that hood and it flys up so quickly the only thought in your mind is NOOOO!!!!!

Is it really necessary for a cowl hood ?? Id consider a stock replacement steel hood. Ive considered reinforcing my Cowl hood with steel parts so it stays latched .. or add a cowl to a stock steel hood. Either way, the trust is gone .

I was going about 50-60. I talked with USAA and if I file a claim they will let me get the same hood. The only problem I can think of right now is the amount of damage and how much the car is actually worth. I can see it getting totaled, and if that's the case I will come out of pocket to fix it.
