We usually register for the show, park in the field and then go walk to show.

I'm planning on going and will show the SC if I have it back together by then. If not, then I'll take the Cougar.

Chris,

At the gate it's $30 to enter, just found mine on the desk not mailed so I will be paying at the gate. We could drive over together from this side of town and meet up with the east coast guys closer to the show.
All this is a go if I get all the parts I need in time to get the SC back together..:D

Me three, I'll register there...

Looking like I may just have the car presentable after all. I tightened up the tranny pan for now, but it still drips here and there, a new gasket (and tranny filter while I'm at it) should solve that. Probably won't have time to do that but I'll keep a check on the fluid level and drive her out to the show anyway.

I resprayed the front bumper, and I *should* have time to wetsand it Sunday, but even if I don't it looks decent.

I shot it with DuPont Chroma 'Snap Dry " clear, pretty neat stuff. With all the tree debris, bugs and pollen it's perfect because it dries to touch in minutes.

Looking forward to a (hopefully) nice day with some fair weather clouds, to keep the sun at bay.

Now it looks like I have to put on the hard press to get the SC ready for Daytona:rolleyes: I've pulled the SC, intercooler and SC tubes off just to get to my leaky drivers side header. And boy what a leaky mess that thing is! These Kooks headers suck for as much as you pay for them. I got a plan on how to seal them up once and for all. Saturday I'll fire up the MIG welder and fix both sides. Then hopefully reassemble the motor on Sunday. I won't have any time during the week due to being out of town on business.

Wish me luck:D

What been going on with them? Never really had a problem with mine except having to double nut them on the down pipe. Mine seem to bolt up the heads nice.

Looks Like I won't have the SC done for the this weekend. Got the cam, springs, push rods, gaskets, new oil pump, etc... But won't have the time.
Business is finely starting to pickup and I will need to work in the shop all next week and won't have to to tear it down and get it back together. Have to make some money while the work is around.

Might drive over anyway will just have to see.

Hey Bry, I wish I could get over there Sunday to help....it sounds like you need SC time even more than me...but I had another "surprise' from my tenants last weekend, they told me they were leaving to rent a big 5 BR house with other friends, and I have to clean the hell out of the place tomorrow ...they're gone already, though they still have some of their s!$# here... they left it a pig sty.

I have someone coming to see it Saturday evening or Sunday that seems solid, and wants it for 2-3 months only which works because...

,,,Cindy is moving into the Apt in August. No more idiots to deal with, and she & I will both have some stability.

I do wish I could help you out somehow...I can forego the wetsanding, but I do need to procure this new tenant if possible.

I'll be there in spirit, even if spirit can't turn a wrench :)

I will give a call.

I've had leaks with them since day one. Kooks didn't continuously weld the individual pipes to where they meet the header flange. If you hold them up to a light, light is present between the pipe and flange in some areas. I guess they thought the header gasket would seal it. I'll try to remember to take a picture of the leaks. Nothing a little reengineering can't fix;)

Dan, I appreciate the gesture but you have your own work to do which is a little more important than my SC. I should be able to get the car together by Sunday evening.... I hope:D I plan on spending as much time as humanly possible over the weekend.

I'll bet it's a case where every set of headers is slightly different, maybe a bad welder, or a bad day for that welder, kind of the luck of the draw.

If I know Bryan, he's great at fixing the expert's mistakes!

Well, Bry did'nt get it done. He was playin' good deed doer and helped Chuck put his fogs on his Shelby. I'll be there with the 91.

I resolved myself to the fact that the SC wouldn't be done in time for Daytona on Saturday evening. Had a little more work than planned for when it came to fixing the headers. I ended up putting a continuous weld around each port on the flange and then machining it down to form a raised surface for a better seal. I got the idea from the Headman headers on my Cougar. They have the raised surface and don't leak one bit. That process took about 6-7 hours for me to complete. I know I work slow:D I also double gasketed the headers with the standard gaskets and the late model V6 Mustang graphite ones. I'm praying they won't leak at all.

I've attached a few pics of the header repair. The first 2 pics show the leaks and the last 3 pics show how I repaired them.

I'll be going to Daytona with the Cougar.

Cool beans!

Such skill...You could go into business making headers.

...uhh..that DON'T need to be fixed! :)

I just want to post a few pictures I took when leaving the speedway on Saturday afternoon. We had a good day and saw a few SC's:D There was Dan's 89 SC gleaming in the FL sunshine, a black 93 SC from South FL, and a white low mileage 93 SC for sale for $5,000. If it weren't for the porno red interior it would have been more attractive. I think it would have better justified the asking price if it had been detailed. Sometimes I really wonder about people who are attempting to sell a vehicle and haven't cleaned up the car at all. For Christ's sake buff the paint, undercoat the wheel openings, vacuum the interior, and shine the tires. Had those things been done, I would have asked $6,000 for it:D

We missed ya RJ. Dan told me a little about your health issue... you gotta take better care of yourself. You're not a 20 year old kid any more. You got my number if ya want to chat.

Thanks for the compliment on the car but it looks better in the photos than it does in person. I like to refer to it as a good 50 footer. If you get to close, one can see just how bad the paint is. One day it will look better than new. I just hope to live long enough to see it:D The restoration has turned into a career rather than just a project. 9 years and counting:rolleyes:

I know about the career projects dude, Anny still still sitting out back!! I guess I'm not 6'4" and bullet proof anymore, I've always been kind of proud of that fact, this little hiccup changed my mind set a little..

Nothing like a cold slap of realty to bring you down to earth. I've been down that path already under different circumstances. It kind of opens your eyes a little.
