Oil pressure inconsistancy.

yea, it's me, the one without an s/c, so what cha wanna fight about it?
anywho, the ol' bird never seems to keep a constant oil pressure, not even with acceleration ( i'll get to the bearing knock in a second). most times oil press. gauge sits between o and r, sometimes n and even lower and sometimes it's shoot to l. like i said rpm rate and acceleration does not change this. Goin hand in hand with this, since i got this car last year in early august, i've noticed that over time whenever i got heavy on it, i get a really ugly bearing knock. Any ideas? i've got my own but I want to hear from experts. btw I run a N/A v6, 94'

what would be an acceptable oil pressure according to engine specs?

With 10w40, if the bearings are all within spec you'd see 70-80psi cold (even at idle), which is the relief valve pressure in the pump, and then 65-75 hot above 2000rpm and hot idle would be about 40psi.
