View Full Version : can i fill m5r2 through shifter opening?

i am getting ready to replace the shifter bushings so i am going to have the shifter out. i was wanting to replace the fluid while i was at it and wondered if i could just add fluid through shifter opening? also what type of fluid , should i go with synthetic? thanks

Mmmm, I think you're better off using the drain and fill plugs on the side of the trans. The drain plug is the lower of the two (obviously). To fill it back up I usually run some hose down to the fill plug and bring it up somewhere by the master cylinder and put a funnel on the end.

Theres no problem in filling your tranny through the shifter. I've done it a couple of times when rebuilding my shifter.

Yes, if your shifter is off that is definately the easiest way to go.

hey whats up when i put my new tranny in i filled it through the shifter work just fine
