I am possibly picking up a repairable 35th this weekend. Its actually 122,000 miles on it.

What do I do with it.
Will it always be stained for collectibility and demand less then a premium? If so then the choices become a dilema.

See pics a few posts down.

im thinking so, since it was in an accident it will lose some of it value. i would still like to have an anny however so id go for it

It has not been reported so the title I assume is clean. With no carfax history.

I think that if you want a collectible, you should buy that 35th with about 5000 miles for 10000. for this anny, since you have to fix it up, make it the anny u feel ford should have made. the way it makes you happy. just what I think.

The votes are all over the place.

If the concensus was that the car has little to no value, when I mean that I mean if I get sick of it after a year and I sell it, will people even consider it as a 35th or just another good looking SC.

If no one thinks its worth much after the fender bender even if repaired correctly, I would like to do a 94 bumper with 96 headlights and my SVO hood. Add to that maybe swap a 5speed, lower it, tint it and put some deep dish cobra Rs in black. Like my car has but black. :D I think this would make it a very cool looking 35th but I know changes like that decreases any chance of sell it as a 35th with a premium. It will become just another SC.

Not an answer there that looks good to me. I would fix it back to spec and drive it :) It is an Auto, but it is still an Annie... Heck..Send it to the crusher or part it out! Makes my 2 5spds more valuable.. lol

I say you do what ever you want with it. If it is not worth as much so what, if you like the car, get it to enjoy it.

If the body is rust free its worth fixing in my opinion , I know of a few early 60's cars that were wrecked at one time and people love em. Drive it after to enjoy:)

Rico, there was an anny sold a couple years back out of arizona. had the newer lights and hood. looked real nice. can't remember price but woulda bought it if I woulda been in the market for an SC that year. I think the changes you will make won't effect you when you resell. And I am sure that i'll wish I had the money to spend when you do sell.. The economy and peoples financial situations might be the reason it doesn't sell fast.

I found a 35 Anni.................for $400.oo locally.

It was used, abused, rusted, dentd and damaged.

I stripped it...........was not worth repairing.

Yours? Fix it back up and either drive it and enjoy it or store it.

I am officially a bonnafied SC nut/ I need to get checked it for rehab, is there such thing?

I went to pick up one and I end up with two. Sounds like the 35th is getting a manual ;) The parts car will donate the 5spd components to the Anny and well as its radiator support and bumper reinforcment and absorber.

The parts car has slight damage on the front bumper, the hood is corroded on the inner front lip and the fender and door have slight damage that does not really make it worth swaping into the 35th. So I will be looking for a 35th pass door/ Fender. And still torn if using the header panel and lights from the donor car, or keep looking for a 94 bumper and 96 headlights.

Lost it's collectiable value? Well only from a one user car with under 1k miles on it it perfect condition. But heck, there is likely less then 10 such cars that exist, if even that many. Otherwise, It's still going to have more value, even if repaired, than any other 90 SC car. In fact, I don't know that I'd ever buy another pre 93 sc unless it was an anniversary edition. I really don't like the Teves Mark II ABS system. Adds considerable ownership costs to one of those cars.

I know this sounds selfish but I own a 35th with the 97 front end conversion Cobra hood and Cobra Rs for now. I'm actually looking for some Black Deep Dish 19s at this moment. But the car is a Auto. Its different then any other 35th out there. Its ChuckAZ's old car from Arizona. So I would like to keep my uniqueness.

I just picked up a original 35th 5spd that needs some TLC, new paint, take out small dents, recover seats with 124,000 on it. I plan to drive them both. In fact I do already even as I work on the 5spd.

So its nearly the same situation. But isn't driving it and cruising what its all about? What fun is a car that just sits in the garage.

My 1988 Mustang GT Convert has just over 31,000 miles on it and it sits in the garage. I keep saying this is the year I sell it. Its no where near as unique as any of my SCs or as fun to drive.

If you really want one to preserve then spend more money on a car with issues. Otherwise have fun.

I am still on the fence on what front to get. Depending on what parts I come accross as I gather them. But you have a 96 bumper and I want a 94 bumper the only thing that we would have in common are the headlights, as I hope you dont have an SVO 96' hood on yours ;)
I am sticking with 18s when I go with different wheels. The wheels on this car has the clear peeled except for one wheel which I find odd. I think it was replaced maybe they hit a curb?
I think it will cost me the same either way, I think its a matter of finding the parts. I want to find a 89-90 bumper with the SC stamped on it and corner bumper turn lights. Thats proving to be a little hard.
You might be ok since the votes are coming in that I should keep its original look atlest. I do listen sometimes

Seriously, lots of work and not even close to being worth it, but that doesn't matter does it? :p A lightly modded Anni with a 5spd is a cool combo. Do it for the fun of it. Heck the seats in that car are in nice enough shape to make it worthwhile....

I don't know what I will do when the neon gets sold. I am almost certain the speed bug will set in and Ill start to throw money at. Something I don't want to do.

Heck I can go back to turboing the 94 and put the 94 powertrain in the anny.

If i was only rich. This car is supposed to be my down grade so I can afford my new home. But i am sure the M112 will make its way into it some day.

I think Dave knows that if I fix it he will have more business comming his way. So your opinion Dave is a little bias isnt it :p JK

As long as you are coming to me for upgrades and not fixing broken stuff. I look at it this way, the 94 is all hotted out which is cool, but having a car that is nearly stock and which you have to mod slowly due to time and money is fun too. I have almost as much fun with my stockish cars as I do with the hot rods. Besides, teaches you patience. :D

I can totally agree with Dave. I don't have a huge budget for my car so everything is one step at a time when funds allow instead of dumping a tank load of money initially. Its fun, especially when you take the time and measure what each item gets you. Also, if you get everything done initially, then the car becomes boring because, well, there's nothing left for you to work at ;).

Pick a goal where you want the car to be... and don't change your mind till your there.

Well no one bought the car so its up to me to save this Bird with the broken wings.

I spent sometime this week and last weekend tearing the donor car out. I pulled the needed parts from it for the Anniversary. I took off all of trim and parts that the shop might break during deconstruction. GFX, emblem, inner door panel, Mirror, trim, corner lamps, fog Lights, mouldings.
Car runs so smooth I forgot what it was like to have a stock car.

Anyways car is at the shop getting it wings fixed. Ill take it back and put the parts myself after they paint the individual pieces. I think it will look good in the end. I have to find a set of pinstripes Cough Cough, Shane wanna sell
those cheap?

Anyways its out of my moms driveway and thats all that matters as she was getting in trouble for having an unregistered car there. The longer the shop takes the better so I can start saving pennies but I think it will be ready before winter.

The SVO hood looks slick on it :D And it will be the only car that I have seen with a 94-95 Buper that has corner lamps.

Future plans are a bolt pattern conversion and some slick wheels.
Oh and i gotta pull the 5 speed out of the donor car too. Ill drive it Auto for a little bit till I get some more cash for it so I can do syncros and clutch and stuff.

The nightmares start all over

ricardoa1
10-14-2009, 10:41 AM
I went by the shop and looks like they already have the radiator support all fixed up looks good, Bumper reinforcement is done too. Door dent is non existent they did a great job popping it out without any damage almost no bondo will be needed. The donated fender from Jay, was in place and they are just fitting the parts before shooting it with some paint. Everything looks good and not hacked up and that was my fear in the beggining. So we will see.

Oh and something hilarious, the wife wants me to keep the car Automatic, so she can drive it. Looks like the SC but is getting her too she wants to drive it. No now comes the dilema. Should I keep it auto. I would likely drive it less. So I dont know.

And down the street from the shop there is another anniversary in someones drive way all stock. It has been sitting for some time. I stopped in to check it out and see if the folks in the house want to sell it. Well looks like the house is vacant and all the boxes are piled up on the front porch. I think the folks died and the kins are taking care of things. The anniversay is a 5spd it has no sunroof. The house has no number and I dont know if they still check their mail. I know what street its on but no number on the house, I cannot mail a letter. And I never have a pen and paper when I drive by that area. I know they will probably junk the car or donate it if they empty the house and attempt to sell it. So I dont know who to contact for it.

Ive talked to Jay about it but not sure if he is interested in it. Its a nice car only the lower cushion suade and the bolster on the driver side needs fixing. I am not sure on the condition of the motor. I assume if its a 5spd the trans will be fine if not a set of syncros will get it going. It all looks good, except for the front winshield as it has a crack on it. What should I do? I am not in a financial position to pick this car up but id like to get in touch with the owners before it rots to hell or ends up at the junk yard.

fastsc92
10-14-2009, 04:07 PM
I could be interested in it, as long as it's not a rot pile and if there was a definate way to get in touch with the owners.

Mike has some info regarding that other car (93 black, sunroof), but I've been told it's in the process of being parted out. It would be nice to compare the condition of the two and make a decision from there.

Glad to hear you're at least bringing back one SC from the dead. Did you end up painting the entire car? If it still have that parts car, I may need to snag two parts from it before it goes to the crusher.

Its def not a rot pile. But the tires are flat and Im unable to verify under the rockers. The car is nice under all the three leafs lol. And i am picky :)

Im just painting the needed parts and hope they blend with the old parts, my anny has pretty decent paint and a clean and buff should make things look good. I just need to figure out the blue stripe thing. Maybe some car tatto artist and have him permanently paint the stripes.

When ever you want to take a knife at the parts I still have it. I have a fake plate on it so we have not been bothered by the town.

So a new dilema comes about, should I reuse the factory side mouldings or should I leave it off? I will be using the blue pinstrip kit, so that should break up the big door as some of you point out. I dont have a moulding in the front bumper and the rear bumper will have its trim line painted gloss black too. So should I reuse the flat black mouldings?

I'm leaning towards no moulding...........

fastsc92
11-11-2009, 12:29 PM
start cashing in your bottles and cans.....

I'd say leave the moldings off now, and decide later, you can always toss them back on, or have them painted gloss black to match the body later. My car had them painted gloss black, which I perfered over the flat style.

I think it's cool that they are painting the entire thing. It would have never looked perfect if only a few parts were done. I don't think 20year old paint could ever be matched correctly with a fresh coat. At a minimum, they would have to clear the whole car, at least now they are fixing all the other areas too.

Too bad they didn't pull off the ground effects and window trim, but I think if it's taped off good, it'll come out nice.

ricardoa1
11-11-2009, 12:36 PM
I think Ill be ok without too much pulling of course it would be better to but that takes time and he knows this is not a masterpiece car. They paint really good so I hope its all good. If I had known I would have pulled the pieces myself and taken my time like I did on the other side, but too late now. If I have them pull the stuff I will end up with broken clips and retainers and plastics. They probably dont know the car that well anymore since they likely have not fixed one up retail for a while.

I am still waiting on the stripes to come in. I was hoping to install them on a warmer day, as the weather gets colder I am leary of doing it in cold weather and not having them last.

Funny thing is that I have not driven the car yet, on the streets. My buddy who is a cop has been the one moving it around from place to place. He brought it home and took it to the shop. I only drove it up and down the driveway. So I cant wait..He told me the car is solid and feels very smooth.

Cant wait to put the wheels on too. It should really set off the car.

Called the shop up and the car is ready. So trying to make arrangements for PU. Yay. Stripes are supposed to have gotten shipped yesterday. The guy hickupped and forgot to send make them and send them. So I hope to get them next week. This weekend ill be busy putting it back together and doing the hub swap. So Ill be in the garage if anyone needs me.

I also picked up a cheap Radio from WALMART  on sale for $125.00 shipped. It plays DVDs and has AUX inputs. It claims to have Preamp front and rear channels so I will be using those and a Factory JBL sound integration harness. So i dont have to redo the sound system. Im not sure how well it will work so we will see once i put it in there. I am not sure if pre-amp feeds will have enough power to drive the factory amp but Metra claims it works.

Cool deal, get some better pictures in the day time so we can all see the side view of the car with those rims. I'd say hold off on washing the car for a while. Nothing stinks more than fresh, soft paint and swirl marks:rolleyes:

Thanks Jay for pressing the hubs. You have been an invaluable help for me. The loose one tightened up when I torqued down the nut.
I broke a sway link and I had to try to take on off the parts car. Not fun when the threads are all corroded on the parts car. I did get it off after 20 minuted of back and forth turning.
Rear swap is done but the front need to be done now. I also have to install the antenna motor and realign the door since its spacing is a little off.
I need to get some fog lights too. They changed the design of them from 90 to 91 and they dont interchange I did not know this detail. Actually you start to notice lots of little changed Ford changed. Like the trunk carpeting does not have the plastic cover that hides the end where it meets the trunk seal near the latch. The JBL sub has a removable cover and the later ones are one piece. Sunroof switch is different ect. Lost of little changes.

And KUDOS to black car owners you are the biggest slave to paint car in the world. Finger prints are EVIL.
