head rest retaining tabs

Am r-ding front seats on 90 XR7 what is the best way to remove the retaining tabs the secure the head rest?

AFAIK, when you un-skin the seat you can reach inside and release the retainers. Otherwise you perhaps need to un-do enough of the skin to provide reach access (upwards) from the rear/lower edge of each seat back..

one is broken which i need to glue, head rest if off. Is there a way a removing the whole retainer fix it then re-insert it?
