Was changing the winter wheels out on my ladies car and had a locking lug nut break on me while tightening it down! This is 'OEM' equipment so I was a little surprised. Taking a closer look it appears whomever manufactures the locking lug nuts just 'presses' a keyed top onto the body of the lug nut. When I was applying force to torque it down the key top twisted off. Luckily I was able to grab the body with a pair of vice grips and removed it. Had this been torqued down, I would have been ~~~~.
Check those locking lug nuts, especially if they use salt during the winter in your area.
