ok I have a 91 in need of rotors - anyone know the best price/deal for them? I found:

now from what I am seeing the 93-95 birds have different rotors? is this true? Because some just say 91-97 or 89-95 etc.... do the SC's have the same rotors as base models? Does anyone know what the best "bang for the buck" would be?

Hi there,

I am pretty sure that the rotors are the same from 91-97. The previous years (89-90) had the same diameter and all, but the center hole where it mounts to the hub is a different diameter. So if you want to use new rotors on the old car, you should replace the hubs with newer hubs too.

As for your situation, I would recommend staying away from anything too cheap. I feel that you usually get what you pay for with rotors. I never got any slotted or drilled rotors, so I can't tell you too much about that. But for stock, I think Ford's rotors are a good price - less than $55 apiece for fronts. The higher end of any name brand rotor should be good too.

well I heard no negatives about the cquence ones - and they are pretty cheap for what u get... Just to make sure - I have a 91, so the 93' should work? I just want to make sure I would only need to change hubs for 89-90 cars...

rotors

Ya know, even when you take extreme precautions retorquing the lug nuts (most common cause of warped rotors) and break them in properly (2nd most common cause of warped rotors) you can still warp them. In my experience, the drilled slotted rotors off of ebay are junk. Unless you just want something that looks good they probably arent what you need. Go to ORiellys and buy their lifetime guarantee rotors - Last I bought were about $45 each. Then a year, or 18 mos down the road you can take them back and put them on the counter and walk with a new set -FREE.

If they fit the 91, they should fit the 93, and vice versa.

Somehow, I just never understood the reasoning behind buying cheap brake parts? Think about the consequences. Many spend thousands on GO FAST goodies, yet will shy away from a good set of Brembo rotors and pads for the sake of a few dollars. I cant comment on the cross drilled rotor thing just yet, as I havent had mine on the car long enuff, but mine are on the car only because they came with the COBRA BRAKES i bought.
Be cautious. Spend the bucks on the rotors.

Matt

first of all, there are no o'rileys around where I live :( Secondly, I don't mind getting a "good" set, but who knows what are good vs. junk?
