Ya, its a start, but the real deal is to build [ give city permits!! ] for a drag track within 15 to 30 minutes of toronto .
This was attempted about 27 years ago when Carol Bell was the mayor of Markham, she was the one who nixed it before it got off the ground..
So, she got a few votes over it and for those votes street racing stayed in the GTA for another 25 years.. polititions seem to never think of the future in terms of decades, but they are extremely concerned about the next term.
Dave.

One day these idiots are going to wake up and see that people love the automobile and no mater what laws are imposed people want to go fast and race with one another. So if they had any common sence they would give us a place to do so legally like race tracks and quarter mile tracks just out of the city limits where people would go to.Instead of clouding there heads with things like "oh my god now we are giving our kids a place to race and kill themselves" to this is a controlled environment where people can go and have fun just like going to cayuga where you sign a legal document relieving your insurance company of any responsibility of you and your car while you are on the premises. Also there are emergency services available and security if you dont abide by the rules and each car is inspected for safety reasons. If each major city were to do this they would see a major reduction in street racing and deaths and there would be a lot more fun things to do around town which is a major interest in the public eye!
