Has anyone ever repaired an auto adjusting mirror. My green light lights up when someone comes up behind me,but nothing moves.I've taken it apart, everything looks intact(the rubber band is there),I can rotate the motor by hand(its not frozen). This is the only thing not working on my car, unless that light is a tailgating indicator......Help!!!!!!!

I would replace it with one of the newer style mirrors that dim. It is a plug and play installation. No modification needed.

I replaced the electric motor in my '89 with a replacement from a hobby store, after first trying to clean the carbon brushes. The new motor would spin too fast, causing the cam to overshoot the limit switches, which made the mirror oscillate back and forth. So I added a resistor in series to slow the motor down.

If your mirror is just the plain one with no wires to it, you will have to run wies for it.
