Ok after searching this site for hours I can't find what I want anywhere but i know it is somewhere. I want to put a cone filter in my fender kinda where my air silencer used to be, I have seen a link to a site on here that uses supplies from a hardware store to do it. The site has a bunch of info someone wrote about MAFs and some other stuff... does anyone know what i am talking about its driving me crazy.

Buyers beware! I don't recommend buy one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-97-Ford-Thunderbird-3-8-3-8L-V6-SC-Cold-Air-Intake-A_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a317Q7c66Q3a2Q7c 65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q 7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem20a b5d7cacQQitemZ140313984172QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruc kQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1463wt_967)off of eBay. I did and it turned out to be pure junk, didn't fit right and, the seller wouldn't take it back. It didn't come with any mounting hardware for the fender well. Even the bends in the tube didn’t seem right like the fulfillment was for a different car. I ended up cutting it in half and using it for a fresh air intake.

Even the add is wrong. It says it's for a 89-97 Super Coupe so it's obvious the seller doesn't know what he's talking about.

I wasn't telling him to buy it just using a picture. Didnt ya see HAHA??? sorry I guess I should have been a little better with my wording... $40 bucks for a full intake kit I think I would question the quality and fitment. And how can you say dont buy off Ebay? I bought a 04 Cobra off there and great deal and car for me.

I bought one 3 years ago and it came with 2 down tubes instead of the straight one. I monkied with it and got it to work but it would rub in the hole where the box used to be. It eventually wore through and replaed it with a magnaflow exhaust tube. Still works as far as I know.

I used 4" poop pipe on my dad's marauder and plan to do the same on my SC. With the 4" you have to enlarge the hole going into the fender. If it's stock size MAF the hole may work as is.

I think it was a 22* i used. the least bend the better. make sure you have atleast 6" of straight pipe before and after the MAF.

I was able to find some thin stuff so it wouldn't weigh as much.

I think that this is the kit on my car. The fitment is not great but I did make it work. For now it is "tied" in place so that it doesn't rub on the cutout by the fender but it works. The plan is to make a box or something to block it off and make it look cleaner. Other than that, it was worth the 40 for me.:D

Beware of having the Filter down under the fender. The engine will suck in water from deep rain or puddles. There have been several people that have hydro locked motors not paying attention to deep water.

My friend is making these and selling them cheap! its 3.5" alluminum and welded instead of bent to prevent having a smaller id at the bend. I've got one and love it. The blower absolutely screams with it! he is supposed to be building a cold air devider too.

I have that ebay kit on my 93 sc, the fit was not great and would rub with the hole going into the fender, but I padded it and it works great.. whistles like a mother, makes the sc sound great !

I have the ZR Motorsport intake on my 92, don't think you can buy those anymore.

On my 90 I have the ebay special. HAHA. The top pipe fits fine, but the lower pipe rubs the hole in the fender. I think I put some padded foam around it and it works ok. I may take off the lower pipe and just run the cone filter where the stock box used to be to prevent the chance of sucking up water. I always got nervous driving in heavy rain where there was standing water on the road.

Scott,

It may never happen. Who knows, but I have heard of it before. Perhaps an alternative may be to devise some sort of splash shield under the opening to prevent water from being able to directly spray up into the filter.

Dear mqtautoparts,

hello...i met people who bought this and they r complaing that it didnt come with right bends and it didnt fit right or something? can u clear this up? and ford thunderbird sc's were only availabe from 1989 to 1995 how come ur title says from 1989 to 1997? Thanks

hi,

we do a different setup on the pipe, but it will fit. I sold quite a few of these in the past, and really hadnt have any problems with them. it fits from 89-97, If you order it and have problems installing, You can return it for a refund. but shouldnt be any problems with it. thank you.

but hey its only like 50 bucks and i will still buy it even tho there is a lil problem cuz its worth it...

There was no SC after 95 but the Thunderbird was still produced so they are claiming it work for all Thunderbirds.
