Header Heat Wrap

I know this has been talked about 1000 times but I thought I would share some feedback.

Seven years ago I wrapped new ceramic coated Kooks headers with ThermoTec heat wrap. In seven years they have been wet, dry, parked in a cold garage over the winter and generally used and abused.

Over the seven years the motor has been in and out three times and the wrap was pretty beat up so I decided to unwrap the headers and replace it.

There was NO rust evident anywhere on these headers except right where the tubes connect to the flange which was exposed and unwrapped. When I wrapped the headers seven years ago everybody said I was nuts as the headers would rust out in virtually no time at all.

I think I'm going to fix the little rust spots and wrap them up again.

Some good info, I may look into wrapping my headers during the motor swap. About how much wrap did it take, long tubes or mid-lengths?
