I have a 1991 shop manual, but I am away from my home for a few months, I am having my father at least get whats needed to put it together... I know it needs friction modifier - how much - just 4oz.? and what type of gear oil do people use in the diff.? how many quarts would I need to have him buy? If I had the shop manual, I could just look it up, but alas, I do not... Thanks for your help guys...

so royal purple already has friction modifier in it? can you get that at autozone/advanced auto? how much fluid total will I need?

search works.

from this thread

If you have already bought the straight 75w140 Mobil 1 synthetic, then I'd get something like the Redline synthetic friction modifier & add about 2 ozs to begin with. Otherwise you can buy Redline, Royal Purple or even Richmond synthetic fluid with the friction mod already mixed in.
