no power on car..battery terminal connection?

the car died and had completely no power. upon playing with the positive battery terminal ad cleaning it the car works again. Its starting to act up again though. The tach will go to 0 while driving and the check engine light comes on. Then the car looses all power. Could it be a sensor also? anyone else have this problem? 93 sc 5 speed...
 
I know this is gonna sound like a overplayed song just go through the basic trouble shooting things first, check for loose cables, stripped/dirty wires, grounds wires, heck maybe its a dead battery?
 
The battery is good. Its something with the positive terminal.connection. I'm just wondering if it could be something else too

you might just need to replace the entire cable then.....once it starts to do the corrosion thing, it won't go away.
