Heads up on misfire prob.

I just like to share odd finds on some common problems. I had a cold misfire and lean boost condition. I tried everything, nothing worked. I finally went to check compression and when I went to put plugs back in I heard a click. I looked at plug and the porcelain by the electrode on the bottom was loose. Put a new plug in and presto.......goes to show look close at everything.

How does cracking a plug after checking compression affect a problem that existed beforehand, sorry...what did I miss?

Seems more like you inadvertently corrected an existing problem with a loose plugwire, perhaps.

>If the porcelain was loose it would cause a misfire.

Ah...and rattle/click, of course. I was thinking it snapped during install. I get it...thanks

That's a good point. A misfire appears as a lean condition, not because because there is too little fuel but because there is too much uncombusted air. The O2 sensor only detects the presence of oxygen, but can't tell you how it got there.
