Performance Alternators

I've been in need of an alternator that can handle a sufficient amount of power for lighting up grades and a mild stereo system with a max of 600watts and I was wondering if anyone would know who I can contact for a higher amp alternator.

Stock alternator is sufficient, if you ask me. Depends on how much lighting we're talking about though.

I have had a 3000W max stereo with a 2 farad cap in two of my SC's for around 5 or 6 years and have not had to replace an alternator. I'm sure someone will rag on me now:rolleyes: I don't have the stereo up full blast very often or for very long, but I'd say I use around 300-500W rms regularly.

Best solution I know of is if you really need more amps in your alt, talk to your local stater/generator rebuilder.

when i had my system in my first car i owned, I got an alternator from Morgan Grove auto Electric, which is located in Arlington Heights IL 60005. number is (847)394-1698. If your not around the area maybe they will ship you one.

how many amps did your alt put out, and getting one rewound wont work, im going to need 250amp alternator at the least. I forgot to check where I was going to get one for my last car, I put 2 others down there that I found but I would go with the first one if your going to run 2000watts rms or more on a system, I dont know about the lights and whatnot though

Oh im not ragging but please people, dont waste your money on caps, they are just mini batteries that are priced the same and go dead way quicker than batteries, if space is a issue just get a small boat or motorcycle batt

Also, try Wrangler NW, at 503-235-4110. I have always had very good results with their products, and their tech support is excellent...
