Took my 88 stang w/ a sc motor to the track for the first time and got 6 passes and my best was 12.86 @ 107.7
I had some issues with my custom IC tubes trying to blow apart. I bought T- bolt clamps and am welding a bead on the end of the tube to take care of this problem.

For factory suspension that is original, it hooked better than expected.

I'm just guessing but with those HP and TQ numbers I'm betting there was some traction issues---I bet there are better numbers to be had---but thats a good time to start with for sure.............Dan

nice time! any idea what the race weight is?

Full tank with me in it weighed 2970. Its a complete car still I havent pulled anything out of it, YET. My 60ft times were alittle off. I know I had some wheel spin. the other thing is I had to leave at idle. If id give it any gas when staged it would push me through the lights. So Ill need to do a brake upgrade.

Hmm, my SC weighed 3975 with me and a 3/4 tank last weekend.....sometimes makes me think I need to swap the drivetrain into something lighter.

New best

RT .495
60' 1.917
330 5.394
1/8 8.247
MPH 86.44
1000 10.699
1/4 12.773
MPH 108.49

My reaction times suck but there getting better. 11 passes on the car so far.

My last pass today I had my best 60' of 1.878 then I ripped the top part of the shifter off and bounced off the rev limiter, ht the shifter with my palm and went straight to OD. That ended my day. @ 13.87

Uhoh. Are you sure that manually shifting the transmission will give you enough extra time to outweigh the extra potential for damage? I think most people just leave it in D.

its an aod tranny. If I leave it in drive 1st is ok, but when it shifts it stays in 2nd for a sec then goes straight to 3rd. I wish I could just stick it in drive and go but I cant.

Nice runs Doug! Wish you could of brought it out to Muncie and made some passes. The air was excellent, as was the track prep. There is still a lot of ET left with a good valve body and torque converter!

It has a stall in it now and a shift kit but I know nothing about what they are. I got the tranny used for $150, the guy said he got it hot once but I havent had a problem yet. Besides the stupid pan leaking.

I need to stiffen the right rear to help it launch better. it really squats on that side. Not sure what that will do for me but it could help..

I want an AR kit, that should put me closer to the 11's.

There was a SC powered mustang at the track this weekend and with 3100 some pounds of weight he was running mid 11s So you still have what it takes to get there at a lower weight than his

I think a good converter/gear combo will make up a lot of time! With that light of a car and the power you are making, I think you could get your 60's down in the 1.6x range, and that would help a lot. Taking care of the suspension issues also I'm sure will help that.

I watched the video. At first I thought he was about to carry the tire, but after I watched it the second time, it does. Im not sure how much more suspension work it needs for this area of time/speed. Go with a set of skinnies and what Thomas suggested. I would also add a larger cooler for the AOD and an aux filter ifn you dont have that already.

If you are having issues with the AOD, you might try asking some questions on the forums at www.clickclickracing.com. There is lots of good AOD information over there. (Those forums seem to be pretty quiet lately, but they can at least put you in touch with people who know ... stuff.)
