Add gas and go if you are still in school. Save your bux for a lighter car with some aftermarket support. Nice to see you are a Huskers fan though...

Yeah, I know what you mean... But honestly if you want to go fast and really like the Tbird i would pay off your tbird, and then buy yourself a supercoupe; because your V8 is never gonna be very quick so i wouldnt sink your money into it. Make it nice then drive the ~~~~ out of it

SuperCharged91
08-05-2009, 12:38 AM
You dont really have to strip it. White hides vary well if you prep it good the paint will come out nice.

Do you have a spary gun? Were are you going to spray it? Also i hope you have experiance spraying because Side skirts and bumper covers are very prone to runs due to the curves remeber never to tip the gun keep it Vertical

Does anyone know how hard it is to make a 6"x9" speakers fit in the rear stock location?

Thunder95
08-17-2009, 03:19 PM
Why? There are plenty of 6X8 options out there that fit the bill. No need to do a hackjob on your panels, you won't be able to tell a difference.

Thunder95
08-17-2009, 05:28 PM
Well, for one it involves cutting up the interior panel, and rear speaker hole metal. Not something I would want to do. Another thing, do you have a head unit or amplifier to be able to use the speakers to their potential? What is their RMS wattage rating?

Cookie cutter cheap system for Birds... Pioneer Head Unit & 6x8's, 12" sub in the trunk. Sounds good, is affordable, and easy to install. PM me if you need anything, I might have some audio parts lurking around the garage.

ok update, I tried putting a new CD player in, knocked out the power to the CD player, clock, switch illumination, and cruise control.... replaced #12 fuse unser the hood.... nothing changed... checked all fuses on block inside the car.. nothing.... I did find a ACC relay on autozone, 5 prong.? does anyone know where I can find this part?

TSC89
09-02-2009, 11:06 AM
The first thing I would try is unplug the CD player you just installed and see if the problem goes away. Also, if you have meter I would use it check the fuses, not just look at them. I chased a power problem in my 90 SC and it ended up being 2 fuses that "looked" good but when checked with a meter were bad.

I don't know about Auto Zone's Accessory relay. I checked my copy of the 94Thunderbird electrical drawings I have. I traced all the wires from the clock and the radio connectors and I didn't find any relay in the circuit. The are some relays under the drivers side "knee panel" at the bottom of dash but I don't know if one of those would be it.

Maybe Joel or Tyler can post up if they have any more info.

This is a fuse, or bad wiring job. I don't have my owners manual with me, but I think all those are on one fuse circuit. Not under the hood, not a relay. Check your fuses under the drivers side foot well, hell even replace them, and check your wiring. Sounds like a short that blew a fuse to me. Been there done that. :)

seawalkersee
12-12-2009, 11:58 AM
Find someone selling one in the parting out forums or on craigslist. Anyone who has spent time on these forums thinks they are worth their weight in gold. The hub swap requires different brake rotors an hubs. Depending on the size, you will need the different brackets and calipers. If it were me, I would just drill the t-bird ones to make them fit. That way, you are only out the $200ish for the used hubs from the cobra stuff.

OR, you could step up to Mark VIII brakes and call Cudaz101. He can get almost any style for the rustangs in the bird pattern. That way, you can go back to the LX wheels when the slick stuff hits.

SWS

trust me, the mk8 swap will be more than sufficient for what you need. even ebay rotors will do you fine if you break them in first.... have about 5-6k on mine and they do just fine. wet braking is substantially better with the drilled and slotted rotors. upside of the mk8/ tbird sport brake swap is that it doesnt require any modification at all. just be sure you get all of the banjo bolts and the caliper bolts for the new brakes, i dont believe your old ones will work.

should that be revised? lmao, i'm even better than that drunk.... :)

as far as the ebay rotors, just be aware of what you are buying. they are cheap, and will robably perform as so. its hit and miss i suppose on quality. mine do just fine, once they were broken in, i am able to brake pretty hard and fast without any signs of warping.

my only tiff is the little whirring noise on hard braking, but that is just caused by the slots 'wiping' the pads.

Wow...I did not even remember posting on this one, you ought to see one of the other ones I posted. Let me translate my drunken babble...

I am a little drunk as I post this so bare with me. Do not purchase the e-bay rotors. They warp about 10K. Mine lasted about 9 stops and the other ones I have seen were not much longer than that. I have replaced them with new Ford units so it should work better. They have already lasted longer than the e-bay units did thus far.

Now, I can tell you that they did last longer than 9 stops. They lasted between 3-5 months and then one day pulling up to a light, there was a loooooooooooooong hill. I was not going fast, but it required the brakes to be on for a while. They warped that day and then were warped through the entire time after that.

seawalkersee
01-29-2010, 04:54 PM
If you are running stock stuff, there is not that big of a need for upgraded stuff. If it was my ride, I would take a rear out of a Mark VIII and throw a set of at LEAST 3.73s in. If you have another driver, go with 4.1s or 4.3s. Next, get a good PI intake (use the Ford unit not a Doorman) and start saving for a swap...If you are REALLY interested, I have a deal for you that consists of an aluminum short block, CNC ported heads, and cams. With that, you will need to beef up the tranny and stall. I have a hook up for you on that too if you go with the 4.1s in the form of a Marauder converter. Lil scratch is all it takes.

I want to do my 4v swap and am sitting on a pile of 4.6 2v parts.

Maybe your pannels were more torn up than mine.. the Dot3 didn't get under a good 90% of the rubber, or do anything to remove it. This is after soaking on and off for about a month.

I ended up getting impatient, spraying it all down with aircraft paint remover, melting the pieces, and sanding them back to smooth... This took about an hour total for all but one piece.

I am nervious about this one!

sinhumane

could be an electrical problem. check your oil sender wire to see if its frayed. sounds like its grounding out on turns.

as for shutting off, is your battery secure?

Go witj 3.73s. You will not like the 3.55s NEAR as much. I had 3.37s, they went out and I put n my spare 3.55s. LAME. When I get some extra scratch, I am going back ti the 3.73s. No, there will be NO difference in milage.

This. Springs are possibly the best bang for your buck you can get. Why ruin it?

On a side note, I'm thinking of switching to some linear rate springs in the back, and putting on some stiffer shocks with them.

seawalkersee
02-20-2011, 12:36 AM
Cutting springs is no biggie. It looks really good...and works really well.

As far as the rear goes, I steppped into the Cobra rear shocks a while ago. I think they will be the jammy jam for launches with a fairly stiff rear. I am going to run an air bag per side iwth a constant compressor to keep the rates right. Nose of the car seems to bounce more since it is stiffer in the rear (kind of a wave/pivot effect). I could tighten up the front, but wont till I go with some fat tires if I road race.

I have the 3/4 inch drop Vogtland springs on my 90 SC. Others like the Eibachs. You will need to read up on both of them to see which one will provide the ride and handling you want. I would recommend replacing the rear spring rubber spring cups when you install the springs. Get the polyurethane replacements from Super Coupe Performance.

You sure you are not getting power to the cruise? If you are, there is an adjustment to the pedal that will allow you to get a good setup to make it work.

Also, you still lookin for wheels?
