How much pressure with key on

I was taking another look at my fuel pressure when I noticed that when I turn the key on, the fuel pressure registers 0. Second key cycle it goes to 10psi. Third jumped to 30. When I start the car it idles at about 35 (or when it tries to idle). When it dies, the pressure jumps to 40 and stays there for awhile (no rapid leak down). I'm using an Actron Fuel pressure guage connected to the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Is this normal?

I thought when you turn the key on (engine off) the fuel rail was suppose to pressurize??

It does...but the pump will only run a few seconds if the engine isn't running. How quickly you see the pressure depends on your battery strength, how quick your pressure gauge is responding and how long the car was sitting since it was last ran.

Mine used to take a couple cycles of the key to show 40 psi, but recently it shows full pressure almost instantly.

RE: Fuel Starved ?

Does the Fuel Rail pressure drop off when the Car Dies ?

Is the electric fuel pump louder than normal ?
