My twinn brother is doing his senior project and i told him to run the maxton mile down in laurenburg NC it is an old airforce base that they now run east coast landspeed runs on we are taking the supercoupe down to see what she will do. the event is the weekend of october 25 i think it would be awesome to see some birds down there flying fast. anyone gotta top speed number thats a good ball park for a stock 90 sc with cold air and flowmaster 40 series mufflers?

type in top speed in the search forum, there are 3 pages on this
I know Lawson Billharte (?) has a highly modified one that has done 190mph:)

i know my car dont shut down at 120 haha i pegged the speedo in it many times n it kept pickin up speed but guess we will find out come october :)

My 1990 didn't stop at 120 mph. Good luck with your run and be sure to post the results! Some video would be cool too!

Interesting. I had always heard that the autos were limited to 120, but I've never owned one so I never tested it. I guess they don't though, since several people have chimed in that theirs didn't.

If you are going over 120 in your auto, I think you just have to wait a while and then the "Driveshaft Failure Limiter" will kick in. ;) :)

Lawson Bilhardt ran 191.897 back in April at Maxton in his '90 SC. You can find that info here ... http://www.ecta-lsr.com/RecordsCars2.php

Do a search for his name on these boards and you'll find photos of his car.

Lawson was going to run at an old 1.5 mile runway at Air Force base in Maine a couple of month ago, but it didn't work out - he didn't go.

I believe that at Maxton you must have a full roll cage and fire supression system to run any car more than 135 mph. Also you need to be a member of the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA). Look here for that info ...
