Go ahead and set a date already!:p Try to edit your first post and put it there and in the thread title if you can. Whatever date you choose they're be people that can't make it. The 24th is 2 weeks away if you don't say that's it you'll lose some people because of short notice.

Hooters is just off I-20 in Augusta for those who want to meet there first. Or just go out to the track. Mu guess, Hooters is probably 25 - 30 mins from the track. I will go out tomorrow and see.

As a plus Hooters has plenty of parking and it will give to meet, greet, and eat.

I'd prefer a different place but I guess majority rules. There food isn't even that good. But I guess most people don't notice since they're preoccupied.

Put me on the maybe list though. The SC may not be running by then. I'll try to catch the next local-ish one.

Aww thanks Ed :) I've actually got the knock sensor on order and have the rest of the parts to finish her up. Unless....you have a stock clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinder in new condition? I hate my Spec II clutch. I think it's misaligned and it's just too heavy for me.

But in regards to the eatery....I was just thinking about a burger joint or something. Or mexican! I hate to be a drag, but just don't feel like sitting around while all y'all oogle the waitresses :p

I have these parts, except the flywheel, brand new and may consider trading. How old is your Spec II and why do you think it's misaligned?

We don't have to meet at Hooters. It's just close to I-20. The Sonic and Taco Bell in North Augusta are also easy to find and closer to Jackson. Just be sure to take the SC highway 25 exit off I-20. From there Jackson is a two left turns and a straight shot.

Its all about the meet and greet.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's SC's. That's the only eye candy I want.

Well over the next week or so I better get my car ready.

Is the clutch stock?
The Spec II is 3-3.5 years old. It's not fully disengaging (or something to that effect.) and it "squeals". It mostly does that when you're on a hill. I know that's not a good description but it's the best that I can come up with.

Really? Awesome!

Ok, question. From what I've been reading on the boards, you have to have either a 11.5 clutch and flywheel or a 11 inch clutch and flywheel (early model). You can't have one from each. Right? So the flywheel that you have and the clutch that Kurt has, has to be the same. Right?

Sorry, that doesn't sound like something I could use right now, I'll have to stick with my new stock one. I bought it at Autozone and it wasn't that expensive. It also has a lifetime garuantee, they said some people just bring it back and get a new one every couple years. If you get you're Spec out and decide to go with a stock one let me know.

[QUOTE][We don't have to meet at Hooters. It's just close to I-20. The Sonic and Taco Bell in North Augusta are also easy to find and closer to Jackson./QUOTE]
I would prefer something a step or two up from fast food, "like" Hooters, with good parking, good food, and being able to get a cold one if desired.

Mike Puckett
10-13-2009, 03:07 PM
I'll be there but probably in the Caddy. A 90 clutch and PP is an 11 inch. A 94/95 is an 11.5 inch. The flywheels are a bit different, too.

I'm honestly not sure. I don't know a whole lot about manual transmissions. I just know that this clutch set up is way to heavy for me and I want to go back to a stock feeling set up.

Yeah get anyone who wants to come.

Today I drove from Hooters to the track. It took 40 min.

There's nowhere to meet in Jackson.

I checked out the Sonic and Taco Bell in North Augusta. They both would do since there is plenty of parking and its also easy to get to "The House of Hook".

Both Hooters and Sonic/Taco Bell are easy access from I-20.

So shall we stick with Hooters or take a poll? However if we vote than the Poll should close by this Sunday night.

If at least three people answer Poll by Friday Midnight I will set it up.

I talked to my buddy in Spartanburg today and he's out of town working so I can't make it this time, 6 hour one way without staying overnight is just too far. I'll be working on the XR7 all day Saturday so I'll be there in spirit. Someone take a few pictures and post them if possible. Sorry I don't get to meet you guys yet.

Google says 255 miles and 4hours 22 minutes. I'm thinking maybe 3 hours 45 minutes for 255 interstate miles.
That would be a doable day trip.

Eddie said he's gonna be there, or is that MDR?

I've considered that option and would really like to go. I was just at the Shootout 3 weeks ago, I'm going to Talledaga next weekend and REALLY need to get some work done on putting the 5.0 in the Cougar. If I could have combined this with a visit to an old friend I would have definately been there.

Here's an important question :

does anyone have a helmet they can bring ?

It says u need a helmet to run. I may be able to borrow one.

I thought you didn't need a helmet unless your ET is under 13.....

XR7Kurt

When I ran there 5 years ago everyone needed a helmet. They had some available to be rented, I think at the tech inspection area. From what I remember they weren't a lot to rent, didn't seem like they were in it to just make money off people without helmets.

Ok it cost 10 to get in 15 if u r running 5 to rent helmet so 20 will get u running and a helmet

It's 2pm and the rain just moved thru Atlanta so it should be all cleared out by tomorrow easy. I've got a helmet and will bring it. 13.99 is the cutoff for needing a helmet according to NHRA rules. If anybody saw my Passtime episode I got gigged for not wearing mine and to stop and put it on. They take the helmet rule pretty seriously even when you're only playing around.
