View Full Version : MP Tensioner Spring Group Purchase Happening!!! (CLOSED)

Magnum Powers
10-11-2009, 11:36 PM
Hi guys! By popular demand Magnum Powers is placing its heavy duty tensioner springs on sale. As you know these springs increase tension on the belts and reduces belt slip and thereby making more power. There are two springs that come as a pair, one for the lower belt and one for the upper. They have done a great job over the last couple of years helping the SC community get a little more fun out of their cars.

At $50 a pair these springs are a great buy and for what they do a great HP for buck deal. I am prepared to offer these springs at unheard of prices so don't delay and miss this offer:

#sign up --- Price
10 ---------$45
20 ---------$40
30 ---------$35
40 ---------$33
50 ---------$30

Shipping will be about $7.50. Deposit is $25.

So there you go guys the best price on MP Heavy Duty Tension springs you will ever find.

Surf to: http://www.magnumpowers.com/thunder_pro_pri.php to make your deposit to ensure you are in.

Cheers,

Charles

Great! It ends up most people never learn of the GP while they are running, only the lucky ones who happen by chance to surf by at the right time so anything you can do to let people know it is on is extremely helpful.

I've had these since they were first introduced. If you are overdriven at all there is a noticeable difference in power. There was a surging I would get on acceleration that these cured. There are no excuses, if you overdrive your sc then you must have these. I think I got an extra 2 psi out of these if I remember right.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why are these sets for two springs when it's a 3-belt system?

NEEDaSCbad

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why are these sets for two springs when it's a 3-belt system?

You use these springs for the crank/jackshaft belt and the jackshaft/supercharger belt. These two belts like to slip especially when being overdriven which decreases boost. So you tighten them up to reduce belt slippage thus reducing the loss of boost. The crank/accessory belt doesn't really have the same issue as far as I know and it also is robbing you of boost when and if it does slip.

I agree, except for the last sentence. This is what I experienced over the weekend. Mind you, this is a brand new Gatorback belt. The tensioner spring is complete junk...

A weak tensioner spring doesn't usually cause that type of belt damage. A worn out tensioner arm that causes a misalignment of the belt is usually the culprit.

David

jkessler00

Maybe I have a combination of both then because I can push down on the tensioner and it tightens. Thanks for the input.

Josh,

If your accessory tensioner is trashed, you may want to consider getting a new replacement. Accessories like alternators and water pumps don't like too much tension on the belt as this can lead to premature bearing failure. Charles can probably chime in as too how much more pressure these heavy duty springs add.

Looking at that first picture, it appears the belt is off by one rib. It looks like it should be one rib closer to the front of the motor/car. But that could be my eyes too.

The MP heavy duty springs are the same tension as the stock Lightning tensioner which is about 45 foot pounds torque were as the Super Coupe tensioner is about 12. Compared to newer Ford cars the Super Coupe tensioner spring is very weak, it seems like Ford learned some stuff over the years.

Are you referring to the accessory tensioner and if so, fo you think that the hd springs are usable on that tensioner?

It would be except the accessory tensioner spring is wound in the other direction, i.e., backwards from the MP springs.

It starts off with a $25 deposit and then depending on how many buy in, the price are as follows;

#sign up --- Price
10 ---------$45
20 ---------$40
30 ---------$35
40 ---------$33
50 ---------$30

We are currently at 51 I believe so the price will be $30 a set. So your final price will be $30 plus shipping. In other words, $5 more plus shipping over the deposit.

Ditto but not for a while... :o

How about the new Quarter Horse chip??? I'd be VERY interested in a GB on that...

I say lets wait till after the holidays though. Things as pricey as the QH or MPx case might not do as well as $25 tensioners. That's 50% off, and even at 50% off the QH that's still $125... :shrugs:

We got more then 50 deposits so the final price is $30 plus shipping. Thanks guys for such a great response, I really didn't think we would get so many, you guys have made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! :)

I checked with FedEx, using our account shipping will be $8.50 plus the cost of the box so $9.50 will cover our cost on that. I have update the MP website with the final payment so we are a go. The springs will be wound and ready for me to pick up Friday so they will ship out Monday.

there seems to be a minimum charge no matter how small or light the package is. So I believe we can stuff two sets inside the same box and they will charge us the same. So, instead of using our PP shopping cart you should just log into your PP account and go to "send money" and send two final payments plus one shipping to my email address, which is: charles_warner@mindspring.com

Ready for another GP?

I've been looking around, I have lots of stocking stuffers; I have a bunch of 85mm throttle bodies looking for a home and shin spoilers as well for those hot summer days. Or we could do 3.8 Top or the MP inlet for the 94/95. The MP Inlet for the 94/95 would be a good candidate for a GP as I only have them in stock once in a while. We have sold a lot of MPx cases with inlet plenum without the 85mm throttle body so it seems there maybe a need for the 85mm TB? But it is up to you guys what you want, let me know.

Hi Guys!

I've been buried for the last couple of weeks and just now coming up for air.

Sorry for not shipping decals with the springs, I completely missed the idea.

Anyone interested in MP stocking stuffers? Someone asked a while back if I would post possible GP discount rates. So here are some ideas:

MP Raised Top:
Retail $275
If 5 = $245
If 10 = $225
If 15 = $205

MP Inlet Plenum 94/95:
Retail = $495
If 5 = $425
If 10 = $385
If 15 = $370

MP Chin Spoiler:
Retail = $99
If 5 = $90
If 10 = $85
If 15 = $80
If 20 = $75

MP 85mm Throttle Body:
Retail = $305
If 5 = $275
If 10 = $250
If 15 = $235

So what do you all think?

Seems like there are quite a few interested in the MP 04/05 plenum, sounds like there is close to 5 now at the get go. Perhaps if we start now and let it run to Jan 15 there might be enough to get the price down low. I don't have any in stock so I would have to produce a batch but that could happen in a reasonable period of time.

Charles,

If a GP ran on the 94/95 Plenums, I would snatch up one, possibly two if we were able to hit a decent price break with enough people signed up.

As an aside, if we do the GP on the plenums, would it be possible to have my orders shipped uncoated (no paint/powdercoating)? I forsee lots of powdercoating to my blowers and IC piping in the future and this would make it that much easier

I would be in for (2) 94/95 inlets, one for my 90 and one for my old 94 I sold to my buddy. :D

Anytime after the first of the year would be fine as the holidays leaves a lot of us tapped.

Also, would be in for a chin spoiler when that comes around... ;)

This GP was done sometime late November - the people that have posted recently said they received their springs or were expressing interest in another GP from Charles/Magnum Powers.
