View Full Version : Steering column compatibility...

Swapping out the steering column on the 93 and installing the one from my totaled 89. I just wanted to make sure that it was going to be a straight swap. I'm pretty sure 89-97 are swappable.

Changing it over because the current steering column has some type of wobble or play in it...plus the tilt function doesnt work as it should. It gets stuck and just doesnt feel right. The one on my 89 was perfect.

Wiring and clock spring changed in as wel as tilt 93-down and 94-up are different 89-93 should be the same exept if it was a manual trans car or a Auto, Manuals have a button you have to press in order to take the key out.

You can get some play in the collapsible shaft over time. I have some DD shaft to replace it with, but haven't gotten around to it.

Regarding the 93's column ... if you have bad bearings or something, it should be rebuildable. They're not that complex, so you might be able to fix it up as a good spare.
