I noticed on the rear mount it has some sort of "stop or weight" for lack of a better word. What the purpose of this piece, prevent torque twist of the diff?

To reduce driveline vibration.

The later model Birds ( 97's ) got a weight at the end of the transmission also to help with vibration at idle.

hhhm...interesting...i had never seen this.

I wonder if this something that is fine tuned to that car's specific set up or could it be something you can add to any other mn12/fn10.

Weights are all the same, they are not counterbalanced per vehicle. Just used to help "reduce" vibrations - Jerry told me to leave them on whenever possible.
