Is it needed or not. The new engine does not have one on it. I was going to move the shield from the old engine. Do I need to do that???

Ken I would say since you're going to turn the knock sensor off in the tune then you don't need the shield or the sensor. I'll probably remove mine since it won't be used.

My thoughts were on a street tune with 91 octane I could have the knock sensor turned on and do its job. On 100 octane I would be running with it off. Im not sure what the purpose of the shield is, heat may be? Anyway now would be the time to get everything in place while it is on an engine stand.

Heat Shield.
If not used you may end up needing a new sensor if you plan to use it again...
