I went thru my shop manual and still am left with a couple questions.
Looking for some help :
(A) is there a sequence that needs to be followed when torquing down the new pump?
(B)I cannot locate the torque specs OR sequence for the front cover . From what I read , I am going to habve to remove the front cover when dealing with the pressure relief valve srping & plug.

I searched thru various threads and could not find the info I am looking for
Thanks :)

BTW it is a 1989 SC 5spd

If memory serves 20ft-lbs is all that is needed, and no special procedure to retighten.

As for the relief valve yes you must remove the front cover.

Front cover needs to come off. Torque values can be the standards for the bolt sizes. My Chiltons and Haynes manuals all have the sequence for the front cover. So does www.alldatadiy.com. If your book doesn't have it hit the library and look it up and take a picture.

Note that most manuals show a picture that is for the NA 3.8, but it's close enough for the SC.(the water pump is slightly different)
