Help with clutch switch for ignition and cruise, plastic clip broken

I replaced the plastic bushing a couple of times that connects the pedal and the master cylinder rod, and have that working well now. (plus have some spares just in case.) However, the plastic clip that holds the rod in that senses clutch engagement for cruise control and starting purposes also broke. Right now I have the sensor engaged with a broken clothes pin jammed in there :) so that she will start.

Would anyone have these for sale? The plastic clips that snap onto the clutch pedal as described above? Please let me know if you can sell me one, or even two, and ship to Minnesota.

Otherwise I think there may be a bypass switch that automatics have?

Thanks.

Are you talking about this sucker? I had no luck finding the white plastic piece, I ended up bypassing the switch with some jumpers, worked well.

Yeah that white plastic piece is the sucker. Were you able to bypass with a jumper and still manage to get the cruise to work? I'm guessing if it is bypassed to start, it won't work for cruise.

I don't think cruise works off this, there is another sensor if you look closely that takes care of cruise control, I'm not positive however. It's shaped like a barrel and get's pushed in and out from the pedal. When I jumped the one above in the picture my cruise control still worked.

Thanks, but what I need is the white plastic piece. Do the switches you have have the white plastic piece as well?

what year is yours, i used a jumper for the starter interrupt on my 90, leaving the plug disconnected and the cruise works just fine and now i dont have to disengage the clutch to start the car.

Yes, perfect. Mine's an 89 and that is good to know. Does anyone have one of these jumpers from an automatic that they could sell me?

Sorry, or are you saying you just jumpered the deal yourself with electrical wires? If so, can you please tell me which wires need to be jumpered?

Thanks!

yes i used 1 wire to jump the switch. ill be at the shop later tonight and will take a look at which wires it was

I finally got around to trying this and was able to get the car to start by jumping the red and blue wires together.

However, the cruise control did not work this way. Anyone know if you can jump this in a way that the cruise will still work? My cruise worked perfectly until this plastic clip broke off.

To clarify, jumping one red/blue wire with the other red/blue wire. Mine is an 89. Tried to measure the voltage on the switch connections to see if I could figure out a way to get the cruise to work, but still no luck.

So here is a pic of the wire's I jumped. My cruise does still work, I'm thinking you bumped the vac connector that works by the depression of the pedal? If I were you I would hook the pedal acuator back up and take it for a spin, see if that helps your cruise control. This will at least tell you if it's in your wire jumping.

Happy to hear you got it working. Just be careful, don't start your car in gear and take out the garage door.;)
