So I've decided to box my FMIC. Here's the mock up pics.

Cardboard seal

IC in place

Then I'm gonna make a chin spoiler since the original got ripped off along time ago. And replace the rubber flap under and behind the rad with an aluminum piece. Also going to make some dividers like POSJR had on his car. Hope he don't mind me using his pic.:)

are you having issues? can't you monitor you air inlet temps with the QH?

Having issues means somethings broken or fubar. Making upgrades or improving what you already have is what hotrodding is all about.

Looks very good Chris!

Believe me, I'm still doing that.

Kieth, No real issues. I just noticed last time on the highway(which isn't alot) the ect's were up a bit just cruising and I'm sure the fan was running constantly. Just trying to make things more efficient. My IC was just thrown together and I'm sure air was flowing around it mor than thru it. So now that I have some time I figured I'd mak it right and look alittle better too. My other stock cars stay nice and cool when runnin down the highway.

I would like to do a road track day sometime so this is a must for that type of duty.

I'm gonna move the fans up now that I can get to the top of the core since there should be less air flow up there, or maybe get some 12"ers to cover more of the core and stagger them. Need to make a sight shield for the around the hood latch or just uy one of them stainless ones the guy just posted up.

Thanks Dave.

I gots a question. If the cowl induction works as it should does this create an improper pressure zone to keep the air flowing thru my IC and Rad? In other words, should I block off the cowl vents?

When I had my cervinis hood I noticed higher operating temps. In the future I'm going to block them off when I get another one.

with a hood like in the pic i dont know anything about them. i have twin mini cowls, one above the ic and the other above the a/c compressor. when i installed them i got alot of issues with not getting hot enough. for the winter i have to drive with half of the rad blocked off. only fan that ever runs is the ic fan, its on constantly. other then that, no cooling fans will run until around April or May.

Yeah my hood is not the ram air style, just the vents at the windshield.

I took his word for it.

Thanks for the reminder! I was meaning to do the same thing to my car this winter.

I'd be interested to see how the block plate / directers effect the coolant temperatures. Mine has a larger gap for direct airflow to the radiator, so I was thinking about installing the blocking plate around the radiator instead, but directing some air directly up into the IC as well.

Thanks for the pictures!

holly crap wait...did you cut out the front bumper part from your car? I dont mean the bumper cover or header panel....i mean the actual bumper and impact rubber stuff??? It looks like everything in front of the rad support (sans headlamps) aws removed.:confused:

No I didn't cut it out, I drilled it out.;) Yeah its just a 5mph, 50lb dead weight thing anyway.:D

Great idea man! So im assuming you're just using big bolts to hold it back in place? You have got to show me how you did that. Gives you a hole lot of room to work with. I saw this on VW and audis. Makes things a whole lot easier when doing timing belt jobs on those cars. It's even better on those because besides the bumper, the entire rad support can be removed leaving you with no obstruction to the engine...makes engine swaps much easier.

This would make a broken balancer job much easier since you have the entire front of the engine uncovered and with unlimited room! just put the car on stands, grab a chair, sit in front of it and wrench away...ahh..the possibilities.

does POSJR have a build thread or anything for that? I like it.
I mean obviously it seems to be pretty straight forward, just curious as to what he did the the front bumber and everything.

Oh yeah its gravy workin on the front of the car! All you have to do is drill out the spot welds. Its a ~~~~, but worth it if you want to save weight or get more airflow. And if you wanted to you could bolt it back on with the holes you already drilled.;) If you don't bolt it back on you lose you horn mount and fog light mounting points.

Is your bumper flemsy in the front? Without anything to support the middle of the bumper I was just wondering. I have about half of mine cut out to make room for my FMIC and pusher fan but the front side of it is still intact.

I think it maybe alittle. I noticed on one of my drag videos it looked like it was pushing down, but that was at like 100mph, other than that its pretty tight.

Most of the front bumper on my 93 SC was removed to make room for the transmission cooler and oversized intercooler.
