I got the rest of my funds in place to get my car painted. I think I'll be sticking with Twilight Blue although the similar blue on the Ford GT looks good too. It'll be getting a trim off paint job including the ground effects.

Things I'll be changing out:
- Windshield molding
- 93 style trunk lid
- Lip spoiler
- MP chin spoiler
- New headlights & fog lights
- New windshield

Is there anything else I am missing? Ideas?

Was it difficult getting ground effect clips?

The clips on the doors are virtually impossible to find. Be very careful and they shouldn't break, they are old and brittle.

Ugh, if it can go bad it most likely will. Do you have a part number or anything? :(

Get the rear fender lips rolled prior to paint, to accept wider wheels and tires without rubbing. Body shop that painted my car only charged an extra $100 to roll both sides.

I don't have part numbers but I do have this:

The clips that clip to the car and attach the center of the gfx might be available but the clips on the left and right side of the gfx and have a bolt on them are impossible to find. I had to do major surgery to mine and fixed it.

Good idea! I forgot all about that.

It'll look good with the new wheels Weld launched a couple days ago.

Dont take the ground effects off. Unless you are doing body work on the rockers or something, I dont see need. You will be more irritated with broken clips, then being able to paint down there. Dont remove the side mouldings, the turn into noodles once you take them off. Mask them or paint them, or take them off permanently. You will have a hard time putting it back. Take the front bumper off, taking the rear bumpers could be a pain. Sunroofs just need to be open and masked. Take all the side roof rail mouldings off and window mouldings. Then take the door panels off and remove window trims and remove the mirror. If you want to get elaborate take the rear side windows off. Remove any parts in the engine bay that are attached to the inner fenders. Washer pump, Coolant reservoir, air filter and Battery. You can also remove the rear tail lights and front corner lamps.

Thats what I would do. The car will always have GFX dont mess with them and break stuff unless you need to do body work on them. .02 cents.

If you are doing a resoration then none of the above applies strip strip strip everything.

Go into the paint booth with them and knee or squat by the car and have them paint you also. That way, when showing the car at shows, you can blend in with the car.

if your car has black side mouldings ( the ones that run along the side of the car thru the centre of the doors roughly)- i would suggest you think about having them painted as well - i have a 91 and had the black mouldings painted over and IMHO it is an improvement as the car looks a sleeker and less dated.

Are you speaking about the early or late model door mouldings? Wouldn't they need flex agent in the paint similar to bumper covers if they get painted?

Yeah those little suckers on the early style cars it becomes a problem after you removed them. So i would paint with the car unless its a restoration is needed. They are not fun once removed they deform and very hard to reinstall straight. Yes you need a special bonding agent and lots of cleaning prior to paint.

Late model model ones are sturdier and made from different material.
