How do you slow down a SC

Ok, this definitely not for me, its for a customer. I haven't met him yet but I heard about him from 2 different people today from work (Advance Auto) and they said he bought a 90 SC for his 16yo daughter. He bought before he realized how fast it was. Now, obviously I haven't seen the car so I'm assuming that it is bone stock. SO, going on that notion what ways are there to slow them done so a new 16yo driver doesn't kill herself with this car?

teach her how to drive safe

or put a 50% under drive pulley on it

what exactly do you mean acceleration wise or top end?

...... keeping the car keys on his o ring ......... then buy her a nice bicycle .....:p.... theres no way you can slow them ....... and buy a escort ....:p that will slow her down .....:D just kindin man .... but theres no way of slow down a sc ...

BOTH!

You guys ain't right! LOL!:D

If its an auto then I know the accel can be slowed by putting in a 5spd rear and let the speed limiter handle the rest. Other than that I've never thought about it till now.

sure there is.....

you sell the SC to some one that will appreciate it

and you buy the 16 year old punk a na 3.8 auto t bird (those things are dog ~~~ slow) and you put a stereo and an ipod adapter in it and tint the windows. they wont complain.

OH, and I forgot to mention that he could use a late model blower pulley. That would help I think.

many new cars he may have thought about buying for his daughter are probably just as fast as an SC .

Id say make sure it has good brakes and tires and call it a day!

just like a coworker ... he got a 95 3000gt 6 speed twin turbo:eek: for his 16 y o daughter ... that's juts f#$%ing DUMB! ....... unless you want to get rid of someone then your doing fine....

The easiest way to slow down an SC without making it a pig is to wire the bypass valve open. This will allow the car to make 1-2 psi so that it can get out of it's own way but won't let it make a whole lot of torque which is what gets people into trouble. Removing the blower belt makes the car so slow it's dangerous, IMO.

Tuck (superXR7) made me at the start of my project a 1to1 ratio J/S pulley. That would underdrive the blower considerably. I didnt need mine and sold it to CMac89. That would be a good start. Maybe a stop on the TB or foot pedal to keep it from opening the TB all the way. If someone wanted to slow a SC down Im sure there are creative ways to do.

that is an EXCELLENT idea, I'll take it even a step further

instead of rigging it open, just connect it to the vacuum plenum before the supercharger that way it stays under vac and it doesn't appear to be rigged, thus anyone that pops the hood would be none the wiser ;)
