Hey Dan

Does the date change mean that it will be on a different weekend than the downtown car show we usually go to in the evening?

This is the link with the info. ;)

The Ohio Valley SuperCoupe Club hosts a picnic every year in New Castle, PA. Exact details including maps, etc. will be posted a little later. For now, just try to pencil in the weekend for a chance to meet fellow SC owners, shoot the ~~~~, and just have a general good time.

I will be there, I should even be driving my own car for the first time ever!

In general terms, I-80w to I-79s about 1 hour north of Pitt. Or I-76w to I-79n. I take the northern route, have made this trip to the town next door (Butler) annually for almost 20 years now for a variety of reasons and allow 6-7 pretty comfortable hours. This includes the time it takes to get off the Island which can vary considerably from trip to trip. 420 miles one way from my house. We generally make the G.W. Bridge in well under 6 hours.

Tentive plans are to have a normal summer picnic at the park early after noon say 2:00 then maybe a cruise out to McConnell's Mill if you guys are up to it :)(it"s really cool if you never been there)or we can just hang out. Then head over to my place for dinner (lamb on the rod & chicken) along with Peg's famous lamb sauce plus a cooler full of refreshments:D then top it off with New Castle's fireworks they claim we're the fireworks capital of America. We have some rooms set aside at the Comfort Inn for the 10th I'm sure we can get some for the 9th if needed I think they're under the name Bob.We're open to suggestions
Hope you all can make it

2 questions.

1) Are all of the activities planned for Saturday? The reason I ask is that I definitely have to work on Monday the 12th and I know that my drive will be several hours longer than usual dues to traveling with my young kids.

2) Can you send me the hotel info? You mentioned earlier in this thread that you have some rooms blocked, but I missed if there is a block name or group.

I still don't know for sure about attending yet, I'm waiting for confirmation from another group here at work.

Both car seats are installed in the back of my 95.
Dual-screen portable DVD player is installed on the back of each headrest.
Cigarette lighter splitter required to power DVD and radar detector  in car.
Truck full

Hitting the road in about 8 hours and hoping the rain lets up and road construction is painless. We'll be staying in Columbus Friday night and I'll see everybody on Saturday.

So far the trip has been great. I'll let you know my thoughts after driving straight through with the kids tomorrow....650+ miles. We broke up the trip on the way here and stopped overnight in Columbus. But I have to be home early Monday, so no overnight stay for the drive home.

Anyway, is was great seeing old friend and meeting some new ones. I hope to make it over again in the future, just maybe not next year.

Thanks again Dan.

Absolutely fantastic time. Picnic was nice, good weather, great looking cars, just a nice relaxing afternoon. Driving 8 hours for a 4 hour picnic was well worth it.

As for the evening's festivities there aren't the words. A real family atmosphere with a backyard full of people. Dinner was above and beyond and the entertainment afterwards was, well, eye-popping to say the least - a fireworks display which we watched from the crest of the hill overlooking center-city. The seats could not have been better and it seemed that the entire show was put on just for us!

To Dan and Peg especially, and to everyone else who picked up a plate or emptied the garbage or just offered to help with something, thank you all.

Gail & Ira

Oh, and like Kurt we're not home yet either. Spending the night in Du Bois, Pa waiting for the sun to come up so I can see where that large puddle of water under the car is coming from.

Well, we finally made it back to St. Louis about 2 hours ago. The kids definitely surprised us on how good they were, I think even better than the drive there. The SC racked up 1327.4 miles on the 3-day weekend trip.

Kurt - You did this just specifically so I couldn't hold it over your head driving all the way back to St. Louis to work on cars again. I guess I won't get a lot of sympathy from you when I fuss about that.

Very happy to see everyone who came out. Very relaxing for me just an overall great time. Too bad more Ohio folks don't make it out. C'mon guys, show some spirit!

No you can't take the credit for this one lol

Hose clamp came loose. Five minute fix once I was able to get my fat arse into position to reach it. We got home this afternoon after what was a pretty uneventful trip. The best part of the trip was actually at the very end, crawling along in the usual NYC traffic, 90+ outside with the a/c blasting away and the engine temp gauge holding steady at 205. Made my whole trip :D
