Crank Balance

Do you guys normally get your motor rebalanced every time you chge internal components.

I have a new to me motor that was built balanced but to a neutral balanced cast crank. I am changing to SC crank.

My thought was take to shop, check balance- micro journals and polish or turn depending on results then reinstal. Good to go.

I'm I right or do I have to do the above plus---install crank ship to shop engine complete to get mass checked with crank in then rebalance crank to mass.

Everything above crank is forged and balanced in sets plus or minus 2 grams.

Tks in advance

You'll have to measure the weights of all components so the crank can be balanced to your rotating mass. If you happened to have a bob weight sheet from the original build then you could skip that step, but either way the crank must be balanced to the rest of the rotating assembly.

Tks Dave

I was just going to post a "pls b-tch slap me" closing to this thread.

I dropped off crank at machine shop and had everything clarified to the point that I understood.

Man I'm thick sometimes.

I'm going to try for the original bob weight #, and if not start again.

On a positive note the crank I bought on the weekend is a virgin and just needs polishing.

Tks again for warning me not to run out between parked cars.
