I have a 1993 thunderbird with the premium sound system, so i was wondering can i use the same factory cables (ground, p. connect and battery wire) from the factory amplifier for my new amp?

- thank you

I WOULDNT

THE wires to the factory deck are chincy at best. i would at a bare min. run a new power wire to the battery for your amp, and a nice clean ground from the new amp the the chassis some where.

o well might as well do the entire job.. hehe :p , anyways just to know, what would be the danger of running the amp on those factory cables?

well that would depend on what kind of amp you running.

i would be afraid of over loading the stock wiring. and causing damage to the new amp.

its max power is at 500w, its just for running 4 aftermarket speakers nothing more, theres isnt much stress going on the amp

Unless your power wire is 10AWG don't bother reusing it for anything at 500W your pulling over 40A.

10AWG minimum 8AWG preferable but if I was you I just go ahead and run 4AWG.

I'm running with an aftermarket amp on the factory wires. The REM cable from the deck is in the trunk and I'm using the same wires that power for the amps came through. I ran it at full volume for about 20 minutes and checked the temp and they were fine. I was worried about it initially but it was fine, no heating of the wires. Albeit I'm just running a 300 watt MOSFET amp from Walmart... I'll attach a pic of my setup.
