steering noise and steering difficulty?

First, when i turn at a stop, the car seems to make a very squeeky noise, almost like something is rubbing. secondly, at a stop the car does not want to turn very well. it seems im not getting much assistance from the power steering. what could my problems be?

sounds like your rack is shot or just needs fluid...Bill

My best guess is one of your lower ball joints are shot. I had the same problem with my '89 SC. The wheel became hard to turn at slow speed/stopped and there was an awful rubbing noise!
