"cold air intake" question...

I am thinking about making my own intake instead of paying an arm and a leg for one that rubs the strut tower...

I was thinking about trying one of these as it looks like it would curve nicely around the strut tower http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HOND...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5ad7e816e4

basically I THINK I could cut it between the two e's and that is where the MAF would mount and I think I could rotate the piece that the filter goes on so it would angle down through the hole and mount the filter behind the front bumper... Any input?

Any input?

I was planning to buy this one but I don't like how close it is to the strut tower... and I know the "expensive" one like that are the same as I seen one for sale that was "worn where it rubs the strut tower" so... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&itu=UCI&otn=3&ps=6&clkid=9162471566481298096

The cheap ones flake and discolor, I perfer the expensive nice lookig ones that rub!

I heard the ford focus one fits best if looking at cheap Ebay intakes

I will be painting mine anyways... I just can't see spending that much for a piece of straight pipe and a 90*, especially one that will rub and rattle against the strut tower.... pretty ridiculous IMO....

Which one do you claim rubs on the strut tower?

You can use a Focus tube, can't remember if its the SOHC or DOHC tube. I used one when I first bought my car, do a search for it. I have since went to the 3.5" MP tube and have no issues with it.
