My son lost his head gaskets again and we are looking into "O" ringing the engine. Jim you state that there may be trouble doing this??why?? What should I be watching out for?? Now the 64 million$$$$$ ??? What spec's cam are you running and either one of you can answer please... Hope to hear from both of you guys on this and thank you in advance....Rich P.S. remember this is for my son now and he wants to go faster,and keep the heads on...already running a 95 blower and a pully set...

Rich O-ring the block and recever groove in the head
Its the best way to go I have O-ringed block and recever groove in my heads with copper head gasket
Low 12 with no problems no leaks if you have a high horsepower and high boost motor you better O-ring it the thing to look out for is the person doing it they can screew it up good for you not getting the O-ring and recever groove lined up and leak all the time
If you need it done Bob Johnson has a special tool made for this and hes the best at it he did mine just like the Top Fuelers and Pro Stockers of today he does beautiful work mine is a perfect example of his work soon to be 11 second performance
My cam is a special grind we developed for this motor no one els has this type call Bob Johnson Performance for compleat details on O-ringing and why its the best way to do any High Performance Carberated,Blown or Turbo high performance engine Bob's shop number (916)481-9263 hope this helps ;)
He also did the O-ringing on my Blown AR Boss Hemi for the 57tbird good luck with your son's project take care "PRO STOCKER" ;)

Actually, I haven't been able to come up with the time to pull the heads. I got terribly ill with a bronchial thing and instead of resting let it develop into pneumonia, so that laid me out pretty good, and then I got involved in having to shop for a new job (that has been coming for a long time) which I just landed. Product Development Manager for Orange Glow International (the orange glo and oxy clean guys) so I hope to start squaring things up this weekend.
I did take her out for a full warmup / break in run and did some tuning and it's a lot faster than before, so I have some high hopes. I'll try to get some rw dyno numbers, probably before and after frontmount IC. I'll be disappointed if:
A) it isn't over 400 rwhp
B) it can't do 200 mph (180 is current best)
C) needs to be able to whup up on a new viper at the track
I know, lofty goals .......

400 rwhp = OMFG!
I can't wait to see what that thing does....this year?

Depends on how much the new job kicks my a$$, Bill. Right now the only thing left stock in the engine compartment is the IC. It's running now with a minor headgasket leak, and I figure that came from an improperly done o-ring, which needs to be redone. Anyway, here's how I figure it:
Baseline = 472 hp and 566 torque, crankshaft, at Coy's
Port blower and intake, add 85 mm TB from 75 mm, add 5" cold air source {+15 hp}
Further headwork (216 to 235) and new intake lift to .610 {+15 hp}
Repaired stuck bypass valve, at least {+ 15 hp} it was open almost 1/4", no wonder I never got big boost. Coy said he wasn't aware of it, so I have to assume it was like that at the dyno bench.
Overdrive up from 5% to 16% {+15 hp}
Exhaust, same as at Coy's {+ 0 hp}
Stock IC instead of Coy IC, {-30}
Street tuneup 93 octane instead of dyno tuneup 100 octane {-15}
So adding up crank ponies, I get 487 in the car and I "think" I'm being plenty conservative ......
Improve driveline from 19% loss to 15% loss (dropped over 30# rotating mass before the trans) I am assuming the percents cover not only driveline, but power steering and alternator, too.
487 x .85 = 414 rwhp and somewhere around 510 rwtork
Keep in mind that in order to do this, I promised my wife to swear off racing, as the first and only time it raced with slicks it did almost $6000 damage to the car. Very bad deal. So y'all have to settle for dyno stuff and a couple good war stories. The numbers put it well into the 12's with a monkey driving it.
